They are not only not going to lose to UAA imho they are going to smoke UAA both games.

Odds are that, yes Jan will take care of bidness, but you don't win anything if you go with the odds :D Jan has to poop sometime, so why not now? :p

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

It is pretty simple actually.

Really? Simple? Seems to me that their record vs TUC is pretty healthy, compared to ALL of the teams ranked below them. And losing to UAA doesn't affect their record vs TUC. It would affect their RPI, but enough to swing the comparison against them in 5 different comparisons?! I don't think so.

But like I said, I'm guessing you made the bet more for the fun of it, so not trying to start up a big argument with you, lol, just curious why you thought SCSU was in danger of missing the tourney. No biggie. I'm not a SCSU fan, so it wouldn't bother me at all if you were right, lol.

Just tried it out on the DIY site on elynah.com

SCSU wins in 3, Wisco sweeps, SCSU loses to Wisco, still only drops SCSU to 14th in the PWR. But, that isolates the SCSU and Wisco results. I mean, it's assuming no other games are played. It's an unlikely set of events, too. But, it COULD happen that if SCSU wins 2/3, and loses in the Final 5 semis, they could fall out of the Tourney. It COULD.

See, that is what I was thinking, that it would take MORE than just losing one or both games this weekend. That they would then also have to have 3 other teams do things to move them up past SCSU to drop them down to 17th place.

One thing I do not want to see happen, is for SCSU to drop down to 15th and then see the Committee set us up to play them in the first round.

I want to see a CCHA team or an ECAC team in the first round, or if not one of those, then a Hockey East team, but just don't put us up against a WCHA team right away. We play them all year, I want to see someone we don't play a lot.

Wow, page three. Gophers got a nice commit tonight from STA's Tommy Novak. Keep em coming!

The only 2 ways the Gophers would face a WCHA team in Round 1 would be :
1) All 4 #4 seeds are WCHA, or
2) NoDak also gets a #1 (highly unlikely because of the strength of Miami and QU), and there are 3 WCHA teams who are #4s. Otherwise, the committee will avoid that matchup.

Definitely agree. Although I can easily see them getting beat as soon as they arrive at the X. Its not that they're bad...its that other teams are also good and will be more hungry.

There's a CHANCE UAA miracles a game, but that's about it.

True, but every team we play against is their NC so there's that.

The Gophers all too often forget that talent isn't enough against a well-coached defensive team. They have the ability to curb-stomp such teams but a lot of the time they don't start putting forth the proper effort until the third. Last Saturday was good, and I hope they continue to do those little things that are necessary.

I agree, the Gophers seem to turn it on when they want to, when behind or tied late in a game and play hard, would be nice to see that 80% of the time.

Nice! Welcome Tommy Novak

He was one of the best at the state tourney, we won't hold the whole playing for St. Thomas Academy against him.

That is what I was thinking was their policy, but I didn't know for sure. That's a good thing.

You can be sure though that they will be in a bracket to meet another WCHA team in the regional final if both teams win. NCAA wants to be sure to avoid another all WCHA frozen 4
