Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

Get of the F UKING 2 National Championships already, that was 7 going on 8 FU c king years ago, this D-Bag hasn't done **** since then and this will be the 3RD YEAR IN A ROW WITH OUT EVEN MAKING the NCAA's enough of this **** 2 National Championship BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

Not sure why Thompson had to come out in the media and bash Lucia and the Gophers program even if what he said looks to be true. There are other ways to handle it IMO.

Also I think they are wrong on Leddy, he is one of the better players on the team even as a freshman and has gotten better as the season has gone along.

It's getting ugly in Gopherland that's for sure. :(

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

 Gophers played really well for two periods last night and then blew it in the third again. What the heck is going on that they can't play a whole game.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

I once asked a coworker how he approached his job (we were janitors at the time): "I try to find out what my customers expect, then I do just a little bit less each day and pretty soon they don't care if they're wallowing in filth because they expect it."

I just realized the Gophers met my expectations last night.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

IMHO the Gophers are a very poor hockey "team"!!
They have quite a few very good players, but they are not a team.

Now then, whose fault is that, the coaches or the players?

It's* Denver early in the third period. Ness has screwed up at least twice.

Ness is still a junior in high school. The players that come to Minnesota stay exactly the same way they are when they get there. Sad, but true.

Is it the coaches or players to blame for their poor performance?

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

Sad state for the Gophers after this DU *kicking. I guess the * has really hit the fan in Gopherland. Hard to imagine it getting any uglier, but if there was any confidence on this team it just went down the toilet for the season. This is the absolute lowest this program has ever slid in decades. Unbelievable.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

I am not absolving the coaches in all of this mess, but they cannot be blamed for the obvious differences in effort between last nights game and tonights.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

I'm at the point where I blame the coaching staff.

We'd be calling for Eaves head if this monkey business was going on down in Madison, but I'd stick with Lucia. The guy has too good of a resume to give the axe. Maybe he should change his recruiting style to guys that want to give it for 60 minutes all-be-its no regrets? :D

Agreed.

Didn't take long for Cepis/Schroeder/Budish line to disappear.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

The Gophers have two captains, one on the third line, and one on the fourth line.

Does that tell you anything?

Yeah our senior class is horrid and according to tDon that is who was suppose to lead our squad to victories this year.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gophers 2009-2010: Calmly Step Away from the Ledge

1998-2000 was an ugly stretch as well.

Yeah, the infamous 1998-99 season (Woog's last) had the worst W/L record in 26 years. But this season has already eclipsed that season's ineptitude. The opening home ice shutouts by Den. this season had not happened since 1929. The Gophers so far have been swept 4 times, the 1998-99 squad: 3 times. The 1998-99 was shutout once, this season's team 3 times - so far! That mark equals the 1999-00 record for shutouts against during Lucia's tenure. The 1998-99 team had a GPG avg. of 3.23, this season 2.67. The only positive is this season's team may surpass the W/L% by a couple games.

The 1998-99 team did win their first round WCHA playoff series and then lost in the F5 play-in game. I would not be surprised if the Gophers lose their first round this season and miss the F5 for the first time in 11 years. IMO the chances for an NCAA bid this season are zilch.
