Amanda Kessel -- you can't stop her; you can only hope to contain her. 4 goals and an assist tonight.
With the greater depth of talent in women's hockey, it is getting harder to get three into the top ten, let alone the top three, because the votes for players on a single team get split. Because the WCHA has a number of other high-profile candidates like the Lam's, Decker, and Rigsby, those players compete for the same votes. Last night's final few minutes really hurt Noora's case; her teammates didn't give her a lot of support. The perception will be that Noora's numbers are as good as they are in part because she plays behind a great team; IMO, that is true. If Kessel keeps playing like she is, it'll be hard for anyone to have a better case for the top spot.Ok, its doubtful even if 3 Gophers deserved to be among the Top 3, that 3 Gophers will be among the Top 3.
I would guess they'll get Bozek, Kessel and Raty nominated. ARM, correct me if I'm wrong, but each team gets to nominate three players. If Brandt were to get nominated it would have to be by another team. I think Raty and Kessel will make the top ten with Noora making the top 3. I would like to see both, but that is really hard in the current state of women's hockey. With the greater depth of talent in women's hockey, it is getting harder to get three into the top ten, let alone the top three, because the votes for players on a single team get split. Which Gophers have a shot at the Olympics next year?
I s'pose. Unless USA Hockey, Canada and Finland National Team officials hold their habitually, ridiculously weak NCAA schedules against them.Pretty much all of them.
Not a one, as far as I know.Pretty much all of them. How about BC?
Räty and Jalosua for Finland, Bozek for USA among the graduating seniors.Which Gophers have a shot at the Olympics next year?
Thanks much. Sounds like you guys might just be human next year, which is nice. hahaRäty and Jalosua for Finland, Bozek for USA among the graduating seniors.
Among players with remaining eligibility, Kessel and Brandt, also Ramsey, McMillen, and Stecklein have all seen national team camps and are possibilities although probably outside possibilities given the depth of the national team's D corps.
Terry and Davis have both gotten long looks for Canada's U22, but they too are probably long shots for the Canada senior national team.
Former Gophers: Schleper and Marvin, possibly Erickson, West and Schoullis.
I appreciate the effort you put into your post with the a with the dots thing.Räty
Is there one of those smiley deals for slightly abashed?I appreciate the effort you put into your post with the a with the dots thing.
My thoughts exactly. She's earned that much respect from the Gophers' faithful.Spelling her name correctly seems like the least I can do when she is the best goaltender in the world.

Gophers win, 6-3. Box score Game recap from the U.
The only downside was NoDak getting three goals in the third period. They converted on a 5-on-3 power play, scored just after the expiration of the second Gopher penalty in the same sequence, then got a breakaway goal late. Hopefully the Gophs can quell tomorrow any momentum the Whioux got out of that.
The aforementioned penalty problems didn't help the Gophers quell UND's momentum until late. Got to get that resolved.Actually 4 goals and 2 assists, and both were first assists at that!
