This looks like work for a math major, TTT20 should be doing this, not me.
And a tiny bit of geography while I am at it, I currently live about 1/8 of a mile north of the 45th parallel. I brag to the living farther south members of my family that I at least live in the north half of the northern hemisphere. As you point out, some of the major population centers of Canada are actually SOUTH from where I live.
Just doing a little conversion for Celsius challenged south of the border types (such as myself).I can relate to that. Similar in Ontario, a vast province. Places like Toronto and London are well below the 45th parallel, and much milder than places like Ottawa, Sudbury and North Bay. In this neck of the woods, once you are more than 50-60 miles north of the great lakes, it tends to be 10 degrees (Celcius) colder on many a January day.
Remember days driving from London or Toronto, to Ottawa or Montreal, it would a little below freezing in Toronto, and once you pass Kingston the temp would quickly drop from -5/-10C to -20/-25C in a real hurry.
