Minnesota Golden Gopher Season 2019-2020: Motzko 2.0

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Season 2019-2020: Motzko 2.0

Keys this weekend, mostly obvious:
-Convert on 20-25% of PP. Gophers have been BRUTAL in conference PP (12.8%), but badgers are worst in conference PK (71.2%)
-Stay out of the box. badger PP is obviously dangerous. Gophers don't take many penalties so keep that up.
-Get shots. For as frustrating as Gopher goalies have been at times, uw goalies seem to be worse...
-Stop Caufield. Few superstars show out against the Gophers even in recent down years. Try to limit him to one goal on the weekend.
-Keep it simple. Hopefully play like last weekend.

After last night's loss the state of WI is on notice:

These badger announcers are ****ing terrible. Like they have absolutely zero clue about hockey. They are one of the worst crews I have ever had to listen to.

Nice job Bob

We’re a point out of first with two games in hand. Like what I’m seeing.

1 for 6 on the PP. Close to 20%
4 for 5 on PK. Stayed out of box.
Outshot both nights barely but tons of absolute snipes
Limited Caufield to one goal. He can leave this summer please... No Turcotte for them was probably huge.
Kept it simple

Sweep. 9-2-1 in last 12 at Kohl Center. Insane... Lots of blowouts in those 12. Tasty

Nothing like a sweep of a rival in their house to help one forget a poor first half of the season.

Haven't been to the WI thread in awhile. Anyone questing Granato as a coach? Seems like they have some fairly talented players but at times playing D are rally scrambling. They are very young, but Motzko has a similar age group starting to play more cohesive hockey.

That says "LIVE", so people in Superior are fine.

Was thinking of posting same thing last night. They commented Friday how biased Doug and Frank were yet last night in most cases pointed out what they perceived as missed calls on MN and weak calls on WI. For example, they were calling for a penalty on a slight hook by a Gopher on a D breaking out against the half-wall that slowed him but really didn't create a turn-over opportunity or anything, yet early in the game when McManus had the puck in the slot and was hooked in the hands affecting his shot, they mentioned he mishandled the puck. And they called an interference (or maybe hook) that took McLaughlin down behind the goal line weak, yet in the replay you could see the players stick bending from all the force he was putting on it as he was pulling the stick into McLaughlin's chest from behind, followed by a hit on him once he was down. And they kept talking about the missed trip the night before like it was a one-goal game and that was the only difference. (Never acknowledging that there were two week calls on Zuhlsdorf that followed.) It was strange the way they went into the rant against the refs, and then after a break, they came back commenting on how good of a job they were doing. I have a feeling a producer got in their ears and mentioned that it wasn't the best thing to do as an announcer, and reminded them also that it wasn't just Badger fans watching. And beyond all the penalty commenting, they were tough to even listen to their call of the game.

I said the same things for the most part. Especially the hook with the bent stick. My god, I’ve never seen that much effort put into a hook before.

Then there was the crotch shot by that little ****er doogie.

Frank and Doug were biased but they would have been all over the crotch shot of a gopher did it.
