Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey: 2011-2012 Season Thread

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey: 2011-2012 Season Thread

I have tickets to the Men's game on Saturday and was thinking of stopping at the women's game beforehand. How hard will it be to get tickets at the door?
If past history repeats (as is quite likely) there will be very, very little difficulty involved in purchasing a ticket at the door.

Expect a crowd of less than 50 percent of capacity.

The only time the women draw decent crowds is if there are a lot of advance group sales, such as youth hockey teams. Come to the game, bring a friend, bring a hundred -- there will be chairs for all of you.

Very nice crowd, somewhat unexpected in a town which today was overrun with good hockey watching opportunities.

Ridder tonight had no groups of roaming admitted for free or almost free children which meant that nearly every body in attendance was a full admission hockey fan. Especially considering that, a very nice crowd indeed.

Particular kudos to the fans of the UND hockey team who turned out in force to support their team, continuing testimony to the strength of hockey in Grand Forks and in the UND alumni community.

Minnesota was better tonight, with its superlative team speed on display and with so many players not only fast but also so big. And most impressively still so good.

Here's to many, many more, as Coach Idalski has said, "significant" games between UMinn and UND.

Let's go Gophers!!!!

Still catching up on things, but I enjoyed reading the StarTribune's recap of the UND game, and in particular I REALLY enjoyed this quote from Amanda Kessel, describing her short handed breakaway goal:

"I saw an opening, and I just found a spot," Kessel said. "I even heard them yelling at each other on the play, [and it] kind of drove me to want to score more. Being their top two players that gave over the puck there, and one chasing me, that just gave me more momentum to try to bury it. I can't repeat the words that they said, but they were pretty angry with each other on that play."
