The move of Terry at center, while not an obvious switch before it was made given the chemistry that exists with Davis, may turn out to be one of the key decisions of the year. I worry less about the 3rd defensively with #10 out there, and she is very well suited to being double shifted.

Plus Bozek's footwear was not what one would select with traumatized limbs, so I took that as a good sign as well.

She sure has had some tough luck this year. Hopefully she recovers in time to celebrate on the ice with her teammates after the NCAA Championship game. ;)

Yeah, not a lower body injury...and as I understand it she could have played but was held out for some extra healing time.

And so it shall be, the number of Ms. Hockey winners counted on the roster for 2012-2013 will remain steady. Presumably that is.

Congratulations to Ms. Hockey 2012, Hanna Brandt!

Maybe her teammate can get a shift off once in awhile next season too. ;)

Not surprisingly, she calls North Dakota the most physical in women's hockey. "We know everyone is going to be out for blood, basically...It will be a battle out there. The main thing is to try to keep yourself composed."

Just wanted to offer a BIG congratulations to the entire Gopher squad for winning the Final Face-Off Championship. Considering the quality of the competition in our league, winning this trophy is not only a great achievement but is also a good omen of bigger and better things to come. I have a very good feeling about this team...all of the pieces to the puzzle are there IMO.

BEST of luck the rest of the way - you can do it!

Hi Gopher fans. Just wanted to stop by and say congrats on winning the WCHA Tournament. I said last month you had the best team I had seen in the league and your team made me a prophet (LOL)! Heartfelt congrats and I'll be watching in the NCAA Tournament. I don't know how the seeds will shake out but if I was on the selection committee, UM would be getting the overall #1 seed. Have fun with the NCAA Tournament and best wishes for success! Shoutout to CrazyDave and BozIce99, who I got to meet in Columbus last month! :)

UMD UNHAPPY ABOUT BEING LEFT OUT

“From a coaching perspective, there is no question we should be in the top-eight,” UMD coach Shannon Miller was quoted as saying on her school's web site.

“We are playing our best hockey right now (and) the point is to get the best teams in the country right now. Three of our five losses since Christmas were against the No. 1 team in the country.”

The Bulldogs finished the season 9-2, but were ranked only No. 11 in the most recent PairWise ratings, which mimic how the NCAA fills out its field.

UMD had made the NCAA tournament the past seven years.

I know there's a few...or one for sure that have indicated they share this sentiment with coach Miller. As I said in the context of that discussion, I think the results for the entire season should be a large part of any consideration or criteria. That was regarding a couple different teams (noted for those who'll cry it's just an anti UMD based opinion). UMD had control of their destiny and did not seal the deal. I think that makes the possibility they could compete with those who earned tournament berths a moot point...even if it may be perfectly true.
