Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey: 2011-2012 Season Thread
Thanks Blackbeard. No replay because it is only a one-camera shoot, and that angle is the same that the teams use for their film sessions. BTN does have a multi-cam shoot when they are in town, and even so, I'm not sure if they do replays. I would imagine so.
Great links! I LOVE the vintage games. However, I'm just a bit too young to remember Yvon Counoyer as the second link you posted was of a game that took place when I was literally one month old...lol
Unfortunate for me, I grew up out in western MN and the only games we got were of the old North Star, and only on rabbit-ears over UHF, and only if the weather was just right. My earliest memories were of Giles Meloche, Gary Sargent, and Dean Talafus. Bobby Smith and Dino Ciccarelli were still a few years away. So I wasn't exposed to much hockey as a young kid, but would strap on my roller skates and tool around the basement at the farmhouse with a stick my dad made for me. No curvature on the blade. The "hockey puck" was and old wood disc from my Tinker-toy set.
In high school I ended up playing basketball because I was 6-4, but I played under the basket like a defenseman in front of his net. How I wish we had a hockey program when I was growing up That's just a little about where I come from.
Dan...I forgot that I also could have mentioned Yvon Cournoyer, if you are old enough to remember him, who played for the Montreal Canadiens (French spelling of "Canadians") in the 70's...apparently no relation but the same pronunciation.
I was surprised and dissappointed that there was no instant replay during the broadcasts from a facility like Ridder. Do they not have it or was its use just not available?
Another great game today and another great job...thanks.
