Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Wouldn't we expect to see some pre-season rankings very soon? LPH?

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Tomorrow maybe? In the past they've come out on Thursdays.
I'll take a look tomorrow...thanks. I have an out of state buddy who for one reason or another has great interest and is eager to see the pre-season rankings. Sent me an email wanting to know when to expect them. Thought it was about time.

On another high school note, and regarding the status / recovery of Edina coach Slominski...I know they've appointed an interim. I recall that former Gopher Kelsey Bills was an assistant to Slomo at one time. Was just wondering if she was still there. Suppose that info will be available at the Strib hockey hub at some point.

No, I think it is pretty much for "one reason." I don't remember him being that interested in Minny HS hockey 10 years ago.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Pre-season rankings are out! With five D1 senior commits I'm not surprised they've got BSM No. 1 in Class AA. But depth - especially at D - could prove to be a real issue for them. I'm also a little surprised to see them rank Warroad No. 1 in Class A. They lost a ton of talent to graduation last year so the voters must think that the younger players moving up must be pretty darned good too.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

I think all the top "A" teams were hit by graduation, so they just left the top-ranked team from most of last year in the top slot.

I too was thinking that. What? No Ponies?

Seems pretty hard to believe.

Also notice that if the ratings prove correct the prediction is for a repeat champion in the Suburban East. And it isn't EITHER ONE of the Ponies or the Raiders.

Worry not Brooky, I don't think the Red Sox made anyone's preseason top lists either.;)

BSM now has a sixth D-1 commit. Congrats to Kaylee Druk (F) and best of luck at Syracuse!

...
I haven't been to the HS forum in some time. Any good "what's the best conference in the state?" arguments going on over there? :D

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Sydney Baldwin, D, Minnetonka: Star Tribune All-Metro first team selection last season. Incredible shot. Dictates game tempo.

Kelly Pannek, F, Benilde-St. Margaret’s: Star Tribune All-Metro first team selection last season. Dangles with the best of them.

Nina Rodgers, F, Hopkins: One of quickest snap shots in the state. Dominant player who can beat teams in many ways.

Taylor Williamson, jr., F, Edina: Great hands and vision. A great release keeps goalies off balance.

Always enjoy reading columns, articles or stories with good news in the media. ;)

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Nicole Schammel, F, Red Wing: Take-no-prisoners scorer, tallied 74 goals and 52 assists for a state-best 126 points.

MSU-Mankato could really use someone that can bury the puck
would be nice if should can duplicate her success there
