Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

Re: Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

Tim Rosenthal (aka Rosie) and Kevin Edelson share their picks for the Frozen Four for Inside Hockey. We will have to have a talk with Rosie if his signature on his bracket ever hits ebay

They lost me comparing Ohio State/Miami to BU/BC. Sorry, I understand that's a rivalry, but not to the extent and success that BU and BC has been.

Otherwise, pretty predictable, so to speak. Not a ton of background on BSU other than highlighting the CHA tourney flop. I think they are a dangerous team that just got caught looking ahead.

Safe to say that Michigan will go as far as their goaltending will take them. Let's see if they can at least score a goal or two this year, too.

Miami may overlook UAH, but still should have enough to beat them. They want Michigan. :p

Re: Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

So they'll be pretty disappointed when they get BSU then?

I wouldn't say disappointed since BSU beat them earlier in the season, but last week is still sticking in their craw. It's not a dismissal of BSU, either. I'd rate the Michigan/BSU game a toss-up.

FYI - For UAH fans traveling I-65 North for the regional - there was a very bad (mulitple fatalities) accident about 75 miles south of Louisville (near Munfordville) and Kentucky state transportation officials expect the highway to be closed most of the daytime hours on Friday. South bound semi crossed median and hit a northbound van, both vehicles caught fire, big mess. So, depending on when you're leaving you could encounter delays, would assume they would be gone by Saturday.

Alternate route:
I-65 North to Exit 58, turn right at the off-ramp and follow KY-335 OR Ky-218 to US-31W North.
Rejoin I-65 North at Exit 65

Just got tickets for my kids and I. Driving in from Columbus, sporting the Maize and Blue. Hopefully, this turns out like the last NCAA tourney game I visited (1996 National Championship game). Go blue! It's something I never have forgotten and I hope my kids have the same experience. :D

I love college hockey because it allows a school like Bemidji State to play against and be competative with the Michigans of the world. Fun fact heading into this game university of Michigan enrollment 41,000 something, whole city of Bemidji 13,800. It's a good thing there playing 5 on 5 haha unless the refs get ticky tacky. I hope they just let em play. Sorry got side tracked there.

I'm guessing that ECAC or Hockey East officials will ref this game...That may not be good. Not sure if they'll allow WCHA officials to work at BSU game since BSU uses WCHA officials for their games.

This might open up a can of worms and spark debates, but I don't care. I read this article and was so ****ed off, I had to fire a response back to the author. I'll let you guys read it. My comments are at the bottom, CambriaK.

While you may have been correct that the writer was being an ***** saying that Alabama didn't deserve to be there, I don't agree that you say the CCHA is being elitist when we don't accept them into our conference.

The CCHA already had enough problems getting looked down on as a very weak conference and people saying that our teams that are ranked don't deserve to be there because the teams they play in the CCHA are weak themselves and can't beat teams in other conferences.

If UAH has a winning record next year, then we'll probably think about it a little more. But why would we want to make our conference look even weaker when we already have problems with Western Michigan?

We're thinking about ourselves here, not trying to be nice to a team that played good at the right times but throughout the rest of the season was not that great.

You're right. I probably miss-spoke because I was so mad. I apologize. There were just some comments from some people in the CCHA that I heard when the whole fiasco was going on that made it seem like a hockey team from the South didn't belong in college hockey, and especially their conference.

I mean if they had a better season next year, and at least for the next couple seasons I wouldn't be surprised if we let them in our conference. IMO, i've always kinda thought it would make sense for us, since they are pretty close of a drive (at least to Miami). i mean not super close. But it's closer of a drive for us than it is to Northern Michigan.

So we'll have to see what happens next year.

Re: Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

RIT 1 Denver 0. RIT just missed a wide open net off a 2 on none rush. PP for RIT with about 8:30 in 3rd period.

Re: Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

RIT 2 Denver 0. PP goal with 7 ish left in 3rd

Re: Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE (12-17-3)
Why it can go to Detroit: Some terrible tragedy could befall every other team in Fort Wayne. Okay, you want a real answer? I'll try. Uhh, Cameron Talbot has a high save percentage and a GAA that would be a lot better if the team in front of him wasn't complete garbage? But hey, anything can happen in a one-game tournament. They could surprise you, by only getting a seven-spot dropped on them by Miami.
Why it might be going home: It's a sub-.500 team. They're 52nd in scoring offense. Their average scoring margin is -0.47. I really can't make this any clearer. No one else will say it, but this team being in the NCAAs while legitimate teams like Maine and Michigan State sit at home is a complete disgrace that cheapens the entire tournament.

This guy says what he wants! Sorry bama fans he does make a lot of sense. And yes I know you, "did what you had to do to get in." So save me that response it still doesn't make it right. Miami 6 Huntsville 1 maybe 1.

Re: Midwest Regional, Miami vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State vs. Michigan

I think it would be a hilariously awesome slap in the face if UAH made it to the Frozen Four and in the process took out both Miami and Michigan. Of course, as a Michigan fan, I don't want that to happen.

But I still don't agree with all the CCHA haters because UAH wasn't accepted into the conference. Last I checked there were 5 other conferences. Sure, the CCHA makes the most sense considering they'll be down to an odd number of teams and are the best geographic fit for Huntsville. Why can't we make the WCHA the villian. They would have had 11 teams but decided to grab a team from the CCHA rather than take Huntsville.

blah blah.
ok, back to checking the RIT score for me.
