Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Good game and great season from the "other" Huskies. Hope the rematch comes next year in Tampa... preferably on a Saturday

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

So depressed, we dominated the game but when it counted just couldn't finish it out, 2 missed empty nets, Jamie not being able to reach the puck to cover leading to the tying goal, catching an edge and giving a 2-1 for them to win, just so depressing.

With that out of the way all I can say is what a season, so much progress made, milestones reached and just awesome to experience and all I can do is say thanks for the amazing ride and let's keep it going next season.

Edit: was Mel able to make it up to Dirk for the coaches corner? Just interested in what he had to say if he did.

Yeah, coulda shoulda woulda is a tough way to lose ... moving on, let's cross our fingers that that game was the last early departure for Tech in 2015.

D*mn!! Still finding ways to lose to St. Cloud! :(

Couldn't agree more. This loss will leave a bad taste in their mouths for quite a while, but when it passes, they can be very proud of the year they had. This team has put MTU hockey back on the map and has set the tone for next year's team.

Very proud of what the seniors on this team have accomplished in their time here.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Congratulations on such a wonderful season. Mel has sure earned his money to this point.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

I had to go for a walk to wrap my head around this. woulda coulda shoulda for sure. but, WOW, what a season! all the accolades for individual players, the 10-0 streak to start the season, home ice, the triple OT win, Final Five, and an invite to the big ice dancing. yes, I'll take it all. I still remember the painful 4 win seasons. I'll take this anyway! Coaches and players should be proud!

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

I spent many a weekend praying for you to lose, and my Mavs to get an edge! You just kept winning! Fantastic year Huskies! Great showing today!

I was just glad I got to catch a glimpse of MeanEGirl at the WCHA final five.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

That was about the best possible season a team could have while still winning zero hardware.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

I also had to take some time. What a difficult end, and remember, that face-off with what 35 seconds left, in our zone... that we lost. Really tough one there, win that face off , we most likely win. We lost a lot of key face-offs tonight.

On to next year.. I think we will be better. I think especially the defense will be better. I don't know if we can replace the senior scoring and play making, but we can come close. I'm proud of our team and how they played. It would have been great to give the rest of hockey pause, but I'll take this year. I'm pretty sure St Cloud would not want to play us on a regular basis, but you have to give it to them, they are really skilled offensively.

On the contrary... It's their strength of schedule that got them here with a 1-game above .500 record. My guess is they'd much rather play this Tech team than the one they did 5 years ago.

Call it puck luck, bad bounces, nerves, I don't know... Haven't fully come to grips with it yet... The one thing I can say for sure is that I am very happy with the season and the way the team played tonight overall. Absolutely hate the outcome, but I'm glad we showed them that we're not the "steam roll" conference everyone thought we'd be.

Pulling for Mankato at this point (as much as I wasn't last Friday at the X :) )...

Great season by your team. Would have liked your chances against UND. You definitely belonged at the top of hockey this year. The trick is to have consistency. My team is still working toward that as well.

Don't think anyone thought you and Mankato would get rolled. Definitely the cream of the conference and again, tops in hockey this year.

And we don't mind the hate. To be hated means some relevancy.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Congratulations on a really great season. Tech is back.

They're back and with more experience.

Watching the highlights and I see a team that couldn't finish the game. But this is a game that shows a team how to win and will make them better for the next time. This is another step toward a national title and you'll get there.

Good luck Huskies! You'll be back and prouder than ever. Glad to see a fellow Northland team do so well and be back on the national stage. :)
