Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

I don't know...perhaps just a "Big 3" then (or perhaps Women's Bball, maybe baseball)? And I agree about basketball and football...

haha, that's why I was asking. :) I couldn't think of another one to add in there myself and was curious. :)

If the NCAA was actually serious about student athletes and not money, graduates rates would be a requirement

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

I suppose I should have qualified that. I'd like to see the stats for the money makers. D1 Basketball, Football, Hockey, what's the other of the "big 4"? Personally I think the way basketball and football are handled are a travesty to the name "college" sports, but that's another story....

D1 bouncy ball are you kidding? How many don't even make it a year. So many think they are ready for the pros, no wonder the product skills are so poor.

Though some of that happens in hockey as well, typically the ones that leave do so in their junior year. How does the NCAA graduation rate reflect those issues?

I'm sure BB's rate is horrible, but to me that's part of the problem. Don't call it "college" sports if the players can't handle college... I'm aware that leaving for the pros is something the happens all over and I'm not a fan of it. I'd rather see student athletes that get degrees over the 2-3 and done type players.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

What would you like to know? I'm sure it could be done.
I would like to know more about the role that Tech is going to take in the management of the conference. Are we going to take some inititive and push the league to modernize in the ways that have been thoroughly discussed around here, like game broadcasts online for the entire conference, stronger social media presence, etc? Or is it going to be status quo? (I think I know the answer, I just want to hear it directly from her)

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Tech needs to figure out what video equipment and how the NCAA final games are being broadcast on ESPN3.com

Looks like HD quality

Just watched MSU vs Union. Like watching on TV

I'd be willing to pay a lot more for video feed with that kind of quality and I am watching with a wireless connection

Yes I brought that up watching the Women's Championship game. It was not thru ESPN but off a NCAA feed from Amsoil, looked great. Others say it's not the cameras but the feed. What is the real answer?

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Denver - Ferris game top quality video also and this is from a different rink.

It is definitely possible, might just take a little money

Not sure how to get the ball rolling; anyone know?

Everyone of the rink we've discussed has a video broadcast system built in to the facility, which comes with better quality equipment. Should the video board be installed this season, it would require a significant upgrade in video equipment and would increase the quality of the output that can be streamed. However, it still has yet to be shown the even with an increase in output quality, whether the Huskies Live streaming system would be able to show the difference.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Heisenberg is reporting that Nick Cecere will transfer to Niagara.
Not really surprising. I don't think he was going to get much ice time from here on out. Hopefully he does well at Niagara.

And, Yay! Ferris won! Well done fellow WCHA team! Have fun golfing you ****ing piece of ****, Gwoz. :D

Hopefully it's all being looked into to provide a better product for alums and fans of the visiting team that would eb willing to pay to watch. I hope they're also looking into this max listener issue for pasty.net, we shouldn't be turning any interested fans away from listening.

I didn't have anything more to ask Suzanne other than insight she can provide on the new WCHA, scheduling, conference tourney location, future video options etc.

tMEL leaves and Red can't advance the Blue. Coincidence? I think not.

I had similar thoughts - The void Pearson left behind in Ann Arbor has created a giant sucking sound. Not to mention that having Michigan in the championship game against UND is a good way to flush away $10 (see below). Dirty - I don't want to put too much pressure on the team, but it is up to the Sioux to save me now.

U of M got hot in December, January, and February, but never seemed to take it up a notch once the postseason games began. They have some talent and good depth, and Hunwick had a great senior year in goal, but they didn't have any real scoring superstars this year - just a group of guys hovering between 25-35 points, and a few with 15-ish goals.

How much people want to attribute that to Pearson's departure is up to them. Losing his experience was probably one factor in Michigan's up-and-down season, among others.
