Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Mel Pearson has his first recruit that slipped under the radar. Jimmy Davis, a defenseman, was likely to go to the USHL this fall originally, but will join the Huskies again.

Submitted to MTU sports information contact:

"As I'm sure you know (at least I pray you do), one of your incoming freshman was drafted into the NHL on Saturday. The fact that there is not a release or mention of this on any Tech site is a major failure, and is particularly egregious given how rare this occurrence has become at Tech. A majority of our WCHA competitors put out releases immediately. With new coaches and a new winning attitude, I encourage you to find new focus, and get hockey sports information right!"

Bravo...they deserve criticism for that big time.

well one thing they can't do is claim they are understaffed!.

Really there is no excuse.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I understand that the new staff would like to see new boards and glass. The boards we have are quite stiff and don't give. The latest thing in hockey, both pro and collegiate is boards that give some, a la joe louis arena and a number of programs are going over to this type of board/glass. I believe they think it might help prevent some of the injuries. I would not expect any changes for this year but possibly next.
I couldn't tell you if the injuries we had this year had a lot to do with the boards or not.

Well... plenty of us witnessed the reliability of the glass...

In their defense, this story was coming up at the same weekend as the Mountain Bike Camp. Maybe they would have put out a release had it been a slower news day:rolleyes:

It would make a lot more sense to do that next year, when they replace the leaky ice plant.
