Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

I was hoping to make a stop at the west bay diner in grand marais on the way up(or back?)

My best friend's father went to Tech, so I going to have to talk to him also and get some suggestions. But if anyone has suggestions on must see places and the whatnot, I'm open to suggestions!

Make sure all your affairs are in order first. Bring money. Offer to buy the pep band a drink after the game. That alone will get you to wherever the party is. I would also highly recommend that you pin a note on your self that says you name, that you're new to the UP's ways and customs, which hotel you're staying at with the room number, and an next of kin contact number as well.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

I have never been to the UP, so it should be nice to just see it

you will either become like Brent and love the place or like the rest of us and hate it.

And when you go, stop at Bingo's Bar and ask for Bingo

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Just checking in... are we still bi-losing?

You keep spreading this rumor, and it's very untrue! The best thing about the UP is that it's neither WI nor North Dakota.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

On a serious note, be careful if you are driving in the rural UP at night as there are tons of deer. Especially the eastern UP.
Second the best time is summer because there is a lot to do. If you like the outdoors it might be the best place in america.
But fall is nice too, you might as well go to tahquamenon falls, it's not that out of the way. If you are going to grand marais you might pass right by it.

the Eastern UP is swampy, the western UP is hilly and it's 250 miles from end to end so making assumptions on the soil is not a good idea. My favorite place aside from the rink, is St Ignace.

The best thing about the UP, WI and North Dakota is that you aren't there.

The East has a lot of Polish farmers, and the West is full of Finns who have too many vowels and double consonants in their last names and root for the Packers. Pick your poison. :D

Don't buy any pasties made east of Marquette. Just don't. Also, ignore Dirty when he thinks he's being clever by quoting and editing this post so that it reads, "Don't buy any pasties". :p

Order a sweet roll at the Hilltop in L'Anse, but only if you want to be sugar high for a week.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Boy they're really setting the bar high, eh?

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

I'd pass on that Hilltop roll not as good as they once were. Though the place might fit you diner needs in the L'anse area, unless the old A&W knockoff drive in joint is still open for car hop service.

Uh, Muldoon's in Munising. Really good pasties. But, yeah... east of there, don't do it.

Actually, the key missing word is WIN. That should be the only requirement. We don't care about your background, qualifications, etc., etc. Just win some games, please.
