I believe I babysat Levi back in the day.
If I'm not mistaken, he's played a year for the Eagles, and that's it.

I'm not going to lose sleep over Erkkila. First, I suspect academics would be a concern. Given his age and size, I'd have put him as the third-best prospect out of Cal HS.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason II: We Won as Much Hardware as Ovechkin!!

He has a full ride offer from MTU and NMU (supposedly the youngest player ever for both schools) and is going to wait and see what else is out there. So not a lock by any means.

After his stock rose in the past few months, it's not surprising that he would try and hold out for the time being. Since he's still fairly young, he could easily wait a year for any other schools to call before he makes a decision. Tech and NMU's offers will still be on the table next summer.

Third? Who's between Ben & Levi?

I know a little about Levi, and MTU did not have much of a chance... His dad played at NMU and his dad and Walt are tight. Also, I do not think Russell would have offered something up to him anyway., too young and small, it would be a big gamble...

Rumor has it Johnson is waiting out for an offer from MSU (Michigan State)

Levi's always been a small kid, so I don't think it would have necessarily been a good gamble. I mean, yeah, you've got guys like CC, but how often do you actually have those?

Interesting.

His dad did not play at NMU. If you read a previous post by SG, he indicates MTU was indeed interested in him. It's becoming very common for 15 and 16 year olds to commit. A gamble yes; a big gamble - not if you can recognize talent. Also with the trend of 15 and 16 year olds committing, if your not going to gamble, you won't be in the game with these kids.

The bottom line is MTU lost a recruit out of their back yard and the state of the program is likely a significant contributing factor. Kyle tells these kids - why would you want to go to Tech, it's the worst program in college hockey.

So MTU should get smart kids who aren't very good? You should tell NMU about this second kid; maybe they'll sign him too.
