Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

In all fairness we haven't seen them yet. They're going to get at least a B- from me regardless of what they look like just for trying something new. If they are blah we can change again in a couple years.

Hey what's the name of the person in MTU sports marketing that returns emails?... Seriously, I haven't found one yet since UAH plundered the staff.

Need to get on the twitters my friend. They were posted this afternoon.

Last years jerseys were better. Downgrade
They are only changing the blacks, the gold and whites will remain the same. I like the new logo and style as a contrast to the home whites.

:(

As for the jerseys, I have to agree with Tim. I give them an A-. Way more color, way more pop. Not CRAZY about the crest but as I said above as long as they tried something new I would give them above average. I'm STILL waiting for a new "modern" Husky dog to appear. It's been 20 years since the last time they did a logo upgrade so I think we're due. Maybe they are saving it for when we get home ice for the playoffs... I like that they stuck with the same shoulder patches as last season. I thought those were nice touches.

Going away from single color numbers, names and well, everything for that matter, is a vast improvement in my book. Last year's were nice but they were a cheap copy of the home jerseys and looked like something an IM team would do to cut cost other than the shoulder patches. Again they were different so I can't complain too much. As for being similar to the Bruins, I think they pretty much downloaded Boston's font right down to the captain's "C" on the front.

Can't wait to see them in Duluth!

While they are a vast improvement over any "piano dog" unis, or anything with the funky side panels, they still fall short of the traditional script sweaters and last year's version. Still a very nice sweater.

I see the games at Duluth are on tv, as are the saturday game vs Michigan and the two GLI games. ( on FSD) is there a feed from the duluth games we ca watch?

I give it a B-. Several NHL teams are now doing that type of circular crest for their thirds, so the idea is hardly original. You take that Tech-specific crest and the shoulder patches off, and it's pretty much a note-for-note copy of a Bruins jersey. However if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then they're solid.

What are the games at Duluth "on?"

Anyone know if the WCHA is going to release a pre-season coaches poll. Three of the other leagues have already done so:

B1G: Wisconsin
NCHC: Miami
Atlantic: Niagara
Hockey East: ? (BC)
ECAC: ? (Union or Quinnipiac)
WCHA: ? (I'm guessing Mankato)

Mankato Free Press will be running it for the WCHA going forward.

TSN has him going to Oklahoma City.

I think there was some discussion back when JJ first signed that he can't play in the minors this season. He either had to make the Edmonton roster or he would end up in the WHL.
BTW - If anyone else is working the MTU career fair today, feel free to stop by the Twin City Fan booth today and say hi. Talking hockey is always more fun than collecting resumes.
