>< Michigan Tech Huskies 2022-23: Over One Century of Hockey ><

As they say, best state to get sick in.

Ugh. Mankato has a program built on group buy in. Their guys stick to that programs like glue. I don't recall any of their contributors leaving for the Portal.

On a Tech related topic. Lipe signed with the Iowa Heartlanders. Wish him the best.

I suppose part of it will depend on if any 5th years come back. Some of their leaders like Sandy, Furry, Carroll, Borchardt, and Sowder are all seniors and that makes up a lot of their scoring. They actually have a capable D corp looking at it now, depending on what Hirose and Livingstone do as juniors they could be pretty stout.

I expect MSU will lose at least one of them- if not both.

THG Tweeted earlier that they've heard from a trusted source that Patriks Marcinkevics will be transferring to Tech after playing his freshman season at LIU. He's from Latvia and posted 27 points in 24 games last season. Granted, LIU didn't play a particularly tough schedule so odds are he's not going to make a massive impact right away. But Jack Works was a pleasant surprise for us this season, and I don't think anyone predicted that back in September of last year.

not sure on this one in the CCHA, scored mostly against the weaker teams with LIU. My concern is he is a decent player with the puck, however very very weak without the puck and just do not see him as a Joe type player. would rather see Tech take a run at Will Margel from NH. 2 years left and great PP guy where Tech really needs to get better and a strong play maker

Apparently Joe and staff think they can coach him up. Judging by his stats, he seems to be a good set-up guy who can occasionally score. If he wins puck battles and is competent on the PP, that would be a nice addition for Tech. Being that he is a sophomore I'm not expecting him to contribute right away.

Hirose signed with the Canucks, Livingstone signed with the Predators. They're both gone.

You know I was really happy with this past season's freshman class, and next year these players will take a huge jump with the experience they gained. If Tech can repeat that same success with upcoming freshman class then they are positioned for a big upcoming 3 year window. The key for the schools who cannot compete with the top schools with the top portal players is to recruit these young players play them and keep them in the system for 4 years. There are some really attractive players out there peaking at 20 in juniors. This is the formula that schools like Duluth, St Cloud, Minn State, and Union utilize. Will be interesting what Minn State does this off season with so many big holes?

Maybe I'm just cheap. But paying 650 per ticket times 2, plus airfare 650 x 2, plus food 300 x 2. I'd rather give that money to the program and watch it on tv.
Though I must admit I've been to 2 final fours. one I bought a ticket for 15 dollars( and saw Tech lose) and the other one I bought two tickets, and this was recently, for 35 total. I find it really hard to pay 650 per ticket to a hockey game.

Good thing the NCAA is non profit and looks unfavorably on profiting from sport. Imagine what it would be like otherwise.
