Jake Jackson is so insanely fast, I think he's definitely a good step or two faster than even CJ Eick was.

Good game so far. C'mon Huskies let's close it out this time

Nice to hear Gillies score. Seems like it has been forever for him.

Jackson is fast as hell no doubt about it, but he needs to learn to bring it every shift.

two goals out of Gillies. sure hope he and Heinonen can get keep that up.

Nice win, much needed win.

Go Huskies!

Imho, the best total game of the year. Good solid performance by everyone. congratulations. and very glad to see L'Esperance back in the line up.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

Good win tonight. Need to keep it going!

Mel's postgame with Dirk:
Got through first 5-10 mins, couldn't get anything going, liked our team after that
Strong performance against a good team.
All lines did well, Gerrie and Gould contributed, good to see
Our D did an outstanding job. Good decisions. We had a meeting, challenged them, could be best D group in country.
Back to the road, need to continue to get better.

WKMJ must be el cheap'os then. Should have a color guy like most of the league does, including road games.
When have they not had a color guy? Sometimes on the road it's the SID but I don't ever remember a game that's a dirk did alone.

There are definitely games where he is alone, but not too many. Personally Dirk does as good a job as the NHL guys I listen to and better than a lot of them.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

I have listened to many games Dirk has done alone, usually on the road but sometimes at home even.

Let's see. Especially on the road, I don't think any one of the schools has a regular 2nd guy on the broadcast except possibly Ferris. NMU, MnSt, LSSU, USA, Alaska, BG definitely do not. UAH doesn't have any radio I'm aware of. I'm not sure about Bemidji's broadcasts.

So in fact, HAVING a color guy is the exception rather than the rule in the WCHA.

It is nice to have a color guy just to give his commentary or perspective of the play. Dirk does an outstanding job of play-by- play. To me it just adds something extra to the broadcast.
I think with a great and outstanding storied program like ours we deserve it.

BSU very seldom has a color guy for road games. Home games, they almost always have one.

I wouldn't mind at all if they could keep having Baltus do the color for Saturday night games. I liked him far better than 'Tiger' Pierce.

So the question becomes can this team play at the same level they did last night, for the rest of the season. They have been inconsistent all year, and down right awful on the PP. Fingers crossed that the new found scoring and smarter play is permanent.

I hope so. It was a much more professional looking game than friday. Friday was too much like pond hockey to me. Saturday was very thoughtful. Guys looked around and thought about what to do with the puck. The play of Gerrie and Gilles was especially encouraging and Gould really is starting to make a difference. Also Ray Brice, even in his few minutes you could see how he would be a steve coats type of guy. Shake things up, disturb the other team, cause havoc. I liked him. A bumblebee.

Please be gentle this weekend. I have a professional commitment before Friday's game but am free-ish the rest of the weekend to say hello to all of you Yoopers coming here.

I'll be at both games, not sure when I'm going to be free Friday as I am visiting a vendor for work that day. That's actually how I managed to make this trip happen, plan a vendor visit the same day day/weekend as teh hockey series, awesome thing is my company is paying for my flights, hotel and rental car Thursday-Sunday, I only had to buy the game tickets.

Sweet! There are some really solid vendors around here.
