Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

The really frustrating part is that Bemidji has opened the door since Thanksgiving. They're 4-7-2 since that wobble against Princeton. Didn't look very good against a bad Ferris team tonight either.

If you think there's any chance of catching them, you can't nickel-&-dime your way there. Tech has all the talent they need but not near enough mental strength.

Exactly, Bemidji is trying to let us in and we're closing the door on ourselves. We're playing way below our talent level and it sucks.

Not sure you can expect a whole lot more with the injuries. Like coach said earlier in the week Baltus; Steman and Lesperance could be a top line on any college hockey team. With Roy out you lose another suprising forward talent in Liebinger. I think aside from a couple of mental lapses they played a good game against a very talented team. I think they'll be fine.

It doesn't help that Minnesota State has had our number pretty much since Mel took over as coach.

I don't think they have our number since Mel took over. They have been a talented team over these last years. The injury bug has hit hard these last weeks don't forget.Hope the players get healthy soon and can get back to speed quickly.
I comes down to how bad you want to fight for that MacNaughton Cup.

I Agree with the talent part. And we played really, well and deserve a lot better than we got, but those big mistakes, to me they are just a lack of focus, concentration, whatever, and I have no idea what there is that can be done to correct it. I also thought we lost a lot of big face-offs all game long and that cost us even more in the way of puck control. I liked Brice and I hope he's ok. He made things happen.
As far as three of three, I was glad they were careful, it's so easy to get burned and even on offense you have to be watching the other teams positioning.
The most important thing to me is that at the end of the year we have everyone health and we are playing really well. I saw the midget on tv a few times tonight. she looked about the same age as the students.

These Huskies are certainly letting opportunities slip away. Over the course of the season I've gone from thinking there is no way they get to twenty regular season wins to thinking they'll get there, and will catch the Beavers, and back to they won't get to first place, won't get to twenty wins, and really don't look that strong to win the Broadmore. Yes, a frustrating bunch, playing below their talent level. They kind of have me thinking of the 2007-2008 team that had every one believing better things to come after their first winning season in years the season before. Kerr and company constantly missing open nets (Dirk could have saved his voice by taping 'he shoots wide/over the crossbar').... it seemed like they took at least one penalty at the end of a period every game... Huskies have more talent now, so all the more frustrating I suppose.

Injuries starting to pile up this year. It would be nice to see Steman actually in the line up instead of 'possibly in the line up this week.' Roy out now, hopefully not long. I hope Raymond is OK, but from the sound of it he'll be out at least tonight. And you won't see L'Espeance for awhile....

The boys need to dig deep and come up with a win GO HUSKIES!

Nice to hear Brent Baltus on with Dirk as the analyst tonight. So far so good, maybe he'll find his calling if he can't be on the ice.

Definitely interesting to have Baltus on the broadcast, sadly getting outplayed pretty badly in the first 6 minutes.

Brent Baltus is doing color commentary with Dirk this evening and he is absolutely killing it. Sounds very comfortable and always finds something relevant to say – falling back on cliches occasionally, but his insight is at least as good as that provided by Brent Peterson or Dave Ellis.

He's more interesting than the latter for sure.

another penalty to end a period.. nothing new there.

Baltus doing a good job with the color. hope he's getting paid.
