Next three GLI tournaments will include
2015: NMU
2016: WMU
2017: BGSU
That list makes me feel like the tournament is losing it's luster. The occasional team from WCHA/Michigan is ok but I want some variety. Someone from out east, someone from NCHC (besides Western).
3 out of 4 years having in involve a WCHA team isn't good. In the day and age of the PWR, another game against the WCHA doesn't help the league or Michigan Tech. I'd say the WCHA shouldn't be involved more than once in 3 or 4 years.
It was awesome to show the GLI on tv, but in today's economy, several fans are lost as it is easier to stay home and watch all the sports going on and celebrate the season.
I hope the tv coverage continues, because it is really good exposure to the great sport. I am disappointed that the GLI cannot draw a complete sellout, but tickets are cheap compared to the money spent on a full day at the Joe.
I would like to see Providence, Boston U, and Maine selected after this next run. Impressions yesterday were positive, I am not sure of all the comments of disinterested or not complete games, Tech looked really good this weekend, just ran into the old cliche against Michigan of doing everything, but scoring. Every college hockey weekend there are examples of a game where the shots are doubled up, but the dominating team loses a close one. From watching live, the players that stood out were Gould, Hanna, Kero, Kile, Copp, Hyman, MacEachern, Deblouw, and Darnell, Lowney, and Schempp.
