You could chop down their tree.

I'll let that one be. That tree is a sign of hope that one day they'll have real civilization up there. And false hope is the most amusing kind of hope there is.

Kind of like our hope that Tech will win another MacNaughton Cup someday? :o

Fifth Third Bank is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and got its name as a result of a merger of The Fifth National Bank and The Third National Bank:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Third_Bank

Fifth Third's unusual name is the result of the June 1, 1908 merger of two banks, The Fifth National Bank and The Third National Bank, to become The Fifth Third National Bank of Cincinnati.[4] Because the merger took place during a period when prohibitionist ideas were gaining popularity, it was believed that "Fifth Third" was better than "Third Fifth," which could be construed as a reference to three "fifths" of alcohol.[5] The name went through several changes over the years, until on March 24, 1969, the name was changed to Fifth Third Bank.[4]
Ok, I'll come clean. Minnesota definitely doesn't have a fifth third bank, but I do know of it. Actually I bought stock in fifth third in March, since that time it has more than doubled, yes I know of them. I'll just add it to the list of wise investments I've made in the last 6 months in which I've doubled my money. Who says the economy is bad?:p
 Below Wisconsin? Really?

:D :p
You know my hatred for WI runs deep, but it's only surpassed by UND, because hockey is ALL you guys have, and I love to crush your only dream. :p
I don't see how people can hate UND so much. But then again, I'm pretty racist (minus tDarkness, because he is awesome), so I get much satisfaction out of the Sioux ****ing off the douchbags that want to change the name. Fukc 'em all. Sioux now, Sioux forever.
You could chop down their tree.
Or...you could haul 5 semi loads of dirt up there, make a pile and you'd be hailed as the second coming for re-creating Mt. Sinai.

Or...just level the I-94 overpass just west of Fargo and knock the state's highest elevation down by at least 10 feet.

I want them to keep the Sioux name. I hate that *ing "PC" horsehockey hypocrisy.

True.
Truer.

I should buy about a dozen 100-sq-ft tents, let the homeless live there, and become the 3rd largest city in the state.

Re: Michigan Tech 09-10 Season Thread: Let's go to Detroit. Twice.

Not even the homeless want to live in North Dakota.
They'd rather jump in the river and float to Winnipeg. Winnipeg!!!!! The only city in canada that could lose a hockey team to Phoenix! Maybe the homeless of Winnipeg, via North Dakota, could take "Jet" from Winnipeg to Phoenix, where it would be a decent place to live without a house.

Hey now, a top half finish (4th or 5th) at some point in the next decade is not necessarily a pipe dream, IMHO. The MacNaughton on the other hand, definitely is.
The big jim trophy is always only a year away. All we have to do is take it back, we own it.:p
That said, I'm much more in favor of going the Maine rout, and cheating our way to sucess.

I drank the KoolAid the one year (maybe 2 years ago?) when you guys only lost 3 or so guys, and predicted 5th place. No more.

Top half is a pipe dream. It's not a sewer main, but a pipe dream nonetheless. ;)

Yeah, that small class of seniors turned out to be a lot more important that everyone thought, unfortunately. Helminen, Batty, Skworch - there were some serious leadership qualities in those guys that we missed in 07-08.

Leadership was EXACTLY what bbdl and Shirtless said when I mentioned that.

Well, that would seem to be the consensus on the subject after discussing it on and off for most of the summer of '08. Too many upperclassmen intentionally breaking sticks and taking irresponsible penalties instead of keeping the younger guys focused. In the end, Tech was six points out of a three-way tie for 4th. Win a couple more of the conference games that we should have won and the $h#t doesn't hit the proverbial fan quite so hard.

A few injuries played a factor in that season too, although not anywhere near as badly as they did last year.
