And? I'm a little disappointed that even I couldn't put UAA above those other two "schools." :o
As long as UAA finishes below MTU, I am happy. But I agree, **** those two schools.

OK, I'm having trouble remembering--what sections of the MacInnes are considered the visitors section? I'm buying tickets for the first time, and I just want to make sure that if I'm sitting alone I won't be alone amongst Tech fans.

Hi all, it has been awhile....just thought some of you would be interested to know that Brett Englehardt and Colin Murphy are both playing once again on the same team over in Germany. They play for the Augsburg Panthers and both are in the top 15 in scoring in the German league. They played 3 yrs together at Tech, 2 years together with the Toronto Marlies and are now reunited once again. Both are on the top line for the Panthers and both are enjoying their stay in Germany. Best of luck to this years team of the Huskies and just a side note, a D-man coming to you next year from here is in the top 3 in the junior league up here, so look forward to the name Brad Stebner...

I figure it's time for this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfXsCfWSZAA

Hello out there, we're on the air
It's Hockey night tonight
The tension grows, the whistle blows
And the puck goes down the ice

The goalie jumps and the players bump
The fans all go insane
Someone roars, Bobby scores
At the good old Hockey game

Oh! The good old Hockey game
Is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name
Is the good old Hockey game!

Second period
Where players dash with skates a flash
The home team trails behind
But they grab the puck and go bursting up
And they're down across the line

They storm the crease like bumble bees
They travel like a burning flame
We see them slide the puck inside
It's a one-one hockey game

Oh! The good old Hockey game
Is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name
Is the good old Hockey game!

Third period, last game of the playoffs too!
Oh take me where the hockey players
Face-off down the rink
And the Stanley Cup is all filled up
For the champs who win the drink

Now the final flick of a hockey stick
And on one gigantic screen
The puck is in - the home team wins
That good old hockey game

Oh! The good old Hockey game
Is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name
Is the good old Hockey game!

and I'm expecting live Facebook updates on this weekend's game!! with pictures too!! :)

I saw the script for the halftime show at Fifth Third today.

It's epic.

I regret that I was not yet a Tech fan during the Murphy, Desmet, Conner, and Englehardt years. Nonetheless, it's great to see two alums of the program somehow keep playing hockey together for so long at the pro level.

Testing, testing...is this thing on?

GO TECH!!!

Huh, there isn't halftime in hockey....the game is split into 3 periods, not 2 halves. And I know what a fifth is, but I have no clue what this third is, if it is bigger than a fifth I will definitely have to find one....

I sense the sarcasm, don't get me wrong. But I've ran in to a couple of Minnesotans that call it "Fifth and Third" field. Fifth Third bank is pretty large, or so I thought. But apparently it isn't in Minnesota???

Definitely not in Minnesota.

Re: Michigan Tech 09-10 Season Thread: Let's go to Detroit. Twice.

Fifth Third Bank is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and got its name as a result of a merger of The Fifth National Bank and The Third National Bank:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Third_Bank

Fifth Third's unusual name is the result of the June 1, 1908 merger of two banks, The Fifth National Bank and The Third National Bank, to become The Fifth Third National Bank of Cincinnati.[4] Because the merger took place during a period when prohibitionist ideas were gaining popularity, it was believed that "Fifth Third" was better than "Third Fifth," which could be construed as a reference to three "fifths" of alcohol.[5] The name went through several changes over the years, until on March 24, 1969, the name was changed to Fifth Third Bank.[4]

Grrrr... Really wish somebody had been smarter and scheduled MTU-Ferris game to be in the early afternoon, then I could have easily pulled the double that weekend in GR. :(

They also own the naming rights to several athletic fields as well. One of them is Fifth/Third Ballpark in Comstock, Michigan, suburb of Grand Rapids, which is home of the West Michigan White Caps. MTU plays Ferris State there this Saturday for their chance to climb out of the GLIAC's basement. Technecally, Ferris played Tiffin in a Non-conference game and if MTU should win, Ferris would still be stuck in the basement with Tiffin. Odds of Tiffin getting a win tomorrow....... Hmmmm.... How should I put this..... The nerdest and awkward member of the MTU Pep band is far more likely to get laid by a MTU girl than Tiffin getting a win this weekend. ;)
