Hey boosh, your oilers have the most homosexual on-ice pregame show in history before the game tonight. Seriously, it is bad. There are half naked guys on swings and dudes with bagpipes on the ice.

Yeah, no idea what the **** was going on there. The ***** playing the violin spinning around on a swing was pretty ****ed up too

4. The freshman line with Pietila and Witt looked quite good and was rewarded with some important points. Pietila's goal was a helluva shot.

That freshman will produce points if Jamie leaves them together. Gordic has some nice hands, give him a year to adjust hopefully sooner and he's going to put up some numbers.

But holy hell I think the last time we gave up this many breakaways was against Denver last year.

Also a night without the band was amazing!

Tonight was interesting as Ram's coach Graham Wise was donning his Huskies jersey beneath his suit jacket for the first period, earning cheers from the crowd.

Re: Michigan Tech 09-10 Season Thread: Let's go to Detroit. Twice.

It occurred to me that there were some familiar names that I never heard on tonight's broadcast, so I went and checked the boxscore see who did not dress for the game. Came up with this list:

-Kattelus
-Vlaisavljevich
-Reddick

  • First of all, that freshmen line was extremely impressive. Not gonna lie. They were looking great and got a LOT of ice time.
  • Rickety Cricket looked slower than last year and even more gumpy.
  • It was nice to see Lickteig and Gwilliam playing again.
  • Kinda surprised that Robo played the entire game, didn't get to see Cramer or the new guy. Robo did VERY good, though. Made some incredible saves and had to face many breakaways.
  • The suites are sweet.
  • Misfits were not horrible, which is good for a non-pep band exhibition game. We had to be a little more PC but did manage a SEX cheer.

Yeah, that sounds right. And I did not see a lot of some of the other guys like Rohn and MacLeod. That freshmen line and the top line shared about 90% of the ice time, or so it seemed.

That. Was. Awwwwesome.

Ha, no, it was terrible. Definitely made for some boring breaks in play and sucked not having the Copper CA played at a hockey game even though it was advertised. And I had to hear that **** bon jovi song at least twice, which is way too much.

BTW...

And it looks like Drew Dobson took notes from the Jimmy Kerr handbook, we'll have to see how that turns out this year.

Dobson did that last year too. Pretty sure he led the team in penalty minutes (80-something).

I think Russell stuck with Robo just because he was playing so well. It was a chance for Josh to at least temporarily silence some critics, as JR mentioned that he felt there were "some people" who doubted whether or not Robinson could do the job. Also, the team really needed/wanted to start the year with a W, even if it's a meaningless W on paper. If he's keeping the puck out and the game is close, definitely keep him in net.

That said, Genoe is certainly going to earn himself some playing time this year. He didn't pick Tech over at least four other schools just to sit on the bench. I think Robo is off to a good start, but I also think he still has development to do as far as consistency goes. We'll see how he plays in the first half of the season.

I'm watching the somewhat grainy Huskies Live feed, which is passable for what I paid for it, gives me the gist of the action, and seems to be well-synced with Dirk. However due to camera locations, I can't really make out jerseys and have to rely heavily on Dirk to say who is out on the ice and who scored/assisted. It's going to be a bit of an adjustment for me, and I definitely appreciate the closeup replays. I did hear about "the freshman line" a lot, which from what I gathered is Witt centering Gordic on the right and Pietila on the left, correct?

There was lots of talk about Kivisto and how far he has come from his days as a walk-on freshman.

I also heard Dorito's name a lot on the PK. Seemed like he was reading the play well tonight, and stepping up to intercept passing attempts and get the puck out.

I see that Seigo not only started (), but also led the team in shots because of all the time he saw on the top PP unit. Clearly Russell sees a lot of potential in him.

I guess the bottom line for this game is that none of the freshmen looked completely lost or out of place, and a couple were downright stellar.

Agreed, it seems that every year there are a few Misfits who get their undies in a bunch because tSBFitW can't coordinate cheers with them, and vice versa for band members who whine about the Misfits not locking in with them. It's a basic acoustics issue that could only be fixed by moving the band into the section next to the Misfits, which will never happen.

Just be very glad we don't have to listen to a canned version of RnR Pt. 2 after every f-ing goal (*boring riff* "HEY! YOU SUCK!").

Russell stuck with Robo so we didn't lose a hockey game to one of the crappiest CIS teams around, because we sat at a one goal lead for far too long.

I will agree that he has come a very long way, but the biggest, most godawful mistake of the night was his once again, though Robo bailed him out

He's better defensively, but still slow as balls like Yager said. Not that a guy that tall is ever going to be fast.

I don't think that's quite the issue for a lot of people :p ;)

Only one suite left to be rented out, the rest have multi-year commitments.

hehe:p

Oh, and you might wanna check some of the local GR TV stations, as I know FOX 17 had a clip of the Pep Band in action last night. About a five second bit, but hey, you was on TV. Don't think 8 had anything with the band, but you might want to double check. Also with 13 as well, I didn't stick around Ucelleo's long enough to see their sports report last night, but I do know they usually have a camera at GV games, so I would think that they've would have sent a camera there as well.

Congrats to the Huskies for getting out of the basement last night. ;)

Re: Michigan Tech 09-10 Season Thread: Let's go to Detroit. Twice.

Apparently, Coach Wise gave the Rams pasties after the game on the bus.

Re: Michigan Tech 09-10 Season Thread: Let's go to Detroit. Twice.

Anybody has a picture of this.
Wow Rob Green, wow. But no, I highly doubt that anyone was able to snap a picture because he was wearing a sports jacket over his jersey and when they announced his name and alum ties at the start of the game he flashed everyone with the jersey.

Re: Michigan Tech 09-10 Season Thread: Let's go to Detroit. Twice.

If tech wants to score, they better have have Olson and Baker on the same line; Dobson would make a good right winger for the line as he's an excellent skater and has good chemistry with Baker. I missed Gwilliams goal but I did hear the familiar boom of his shot missing the net and seen him once again not get a shot off on a nice set-up from Olson. It was deja vu all over again from when he played with Rouleau. Rohn or Witt should be on the first PP unit - not Gwilliam but I'm sure Russell will keep the "captain" there all year as he did with Kerr.

Liektag's a grinder. Soley did nothing to impress. The freshmen line did look decent.

Siego is good - him and Cousens will be the top two. Doriott and Neillson are going to get burned alot by the WCHA teams.

Robinson looked excellent. Always in position and had timely big saves on the break aways.

Good news and bad news for next years recruit Jacob Johnstone- first star with 2 goals and and an assist in his first game; got hit right after scoring the second goal and is now out injured.

Tanner Kero is doing well to start his junior career with 5 g 2 a in his first 8 games.
