And that tally would include as many Hobey Baker winners as you have: Kip Miller, 1990; Ryan Miller, 2001. So there ... :p

I have not had a chance to watch Michigan this season, just video highlights. How does their size and speed compare to last season? I think it was the size, not the speed that beat MSU last season. MSU has gotten bigger this year (insert Jeff Lerg joke) and I based on the way we used size against Miami and UNO I think we will hold our own physically.

I think Michigan had a net loss in size.. but that is not as important in my book as maturity/strength. The size they added with their freshmen class is minimal (you'll notice Brown). They lost Mitera, Fardig, Turnbull, Miller and Palushaj with the latter four playing a significant role physically. They still have Lebler and Llewellyn, which odds are 3:1 that one of those two will take a few penalties this weekend. Burlon and Pateryn aren't small either, but play with more discipline.

Speed... they have, and talent.They just have had issues finishing plays this season.

Yeah, but how many NC's did they win? I mean, Morrison won one... unless you count the Hobey that Lerg didn't win. ;)

I felt good about the way we played for 2 periods. I know Michigan played with a stronger sense of urgency in the 3rd period, but it felt like any point in the last 2 seasons again where any time we had a lead we were nervous in our own end.

Even when facing pressure earlier in the night, they were patient with the puck on the stick and made good outlet passes. In the third period tonight we looked panicked each time the puck was on the stick with the back turned to the open ice.

I hope it was the type of anxiety that comes with big games early in the season. I think this team has shaken the memories of last season and the infusion of young talent and contributions from the 3rd and 4th lines is building confidence by the day.

We looked panicked each time the puck was on the stick. Or near the stick. Period.

Seriously, from my spot there were moments when our backs were against it but for the most part, MSU outplayed Michigan. Period. Michigan's got great skaters, but I saw very little cohesion out there.

Want to thank U-M for their generosity, however. The turnovers were appreciated. Yummy.

Palmisano has a career-making, highlight-laden night. I thought we played like crud, but Palmisano was easily the best I've seen him ever.

Someone told me tonight that "its great to be a Michigan Wolverine." After I finished laughing and choking on my coke, I realized MSU just ran away with a 6 point weekend.

Drew Palmisano is the real deal...
