Michigan State 2009-2010

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Jake's scholarship got pulled once Jimmy left for the OHL. No surprise. Not the first time Comley booted somebody just because his brother decided to play somewhere else.

Until you're willing to provide something to back this up, I'll bet there was a lot more to it than that.

You be the judge – Forward Kevin Porter, a member of the USNTDP Under-17 team, verbally committed to Michigan Oct. 11. Two days later, Mike Porter, a senior defenseman at Michigan State and Kevin’s older brother, is cut from the team by Comley. Coincidence?

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I'm not going to lie here...I am a a liiitttle bit confused as to how a player would be cut from a team they are already a part of due to what their little brother does.

"Coincidence?" Yes.

How did Turek get booted last year? Coach calls a player into his office and says "Hand in your equipment. You're not on the team anymore."

I see...

Well anyways, i used USCHO's wonderful information archives to check out Porter since i don't remember a Porter playing for MSU. His sophomore year he logged on 3 games and 0 points, his junior year he didn't play in a single game.

He was certainly cut due to Kevin's decision to go to michigan.

What does one kid having tossed away his college playing career because he refuses to go to class have to do with another (POSSIBLY) no longer verbally committing to the program?

I think Sucharski's the only logical choice for captain, to be honest.
I tell you what... I think that Petry is a quiet volcano.. he was pretty low key last year but I have a feeling that he isn't going to let a season like last happen again. He may not wear a C, (and he may) but I am willing to bet that he is more of a leader this year than last.
I actually have no idea about captains. I have not noticed one specific player on the current squad who is clearly a leader. Hopefully somebody will emerge. Sucharski maybe?
24 days to Clarkston - I misquoted myself.
Would we be OK with Petry or Sprague as captain?

Edit: Or co-captains?

Well we arm-chair coaches each got what we wanted :D

Hey, can somebody give this thing a look-over for me?

I think it's pretty nifty, but I'm a bit biased.

BTW, what is the protocol that is followed if the Flag Man lets it touch the ground?

According to a credible source close to the program, the fact that Ryan Turek wasn't going to class was the least of his problems. The person who told me that wasn't willing to elaborate either, so it must have been pretty bad.

I second owslachief - tell us what you know, or zip it. And no more conspiracy theories either

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Well football season is no longer exciting at all. Hopefully the hockey team can provide some good times this season because just basketball is not going to cut it since b-ball is pretty boring most of the time anyway.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

RE captains...

Petry had better step it up several notches this year. Last year was pretty lackadaisical.

I'm a little behind, but here is some happy news ...
