Michigan State 2009-2010

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

News from College Hockey at the Joe:

Great Lakes Invitational: Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29-30. Teams: Michigan State, Michigan, Michigan Tech and RPI.

Saturday, Jan. 30 - Michigan State vs. Michigan

Friday and Saturday, March 19-20 - CCHA Finals

Prices for the season series and times TBA

I would love to be home for the GLI.... Every 4 yrs, they should make it with teams from the Great Lakes, IMHO....

Should be an interesting year again in the CCHA..

I'll bet you can't wait to don the RPI sweater.

Wow, the mobile edition of this forum is a trainwreck. Just thought I'd point that out while in between classes at Sny-Phy.

I think I'm going to trek over to Munn and check things out after my 3:00.

DROP THE FRIGGIN' PUCK!

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Did they seriously move the first Notre Dame game to a Thursday?! Really?! If so, awesome. Another high-profile game where we'll draw 4,700 solely because we're playing on Thursday.

Did we get bumped by basketball or something?

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

And the above answer to the question I posed is "yes." Host site for the Legends Classic.

Grumble. Understandable, but grumble nonetheless.

Holy TOLEDO (University of).
Seriously, bumped for TOLEDO?

owslachief.........FYI, "Clarkston" is a nice town North of Detroit and "Clarkson" is a fine engineering school in the North Country of
upstate NY (Potsdam). Clarkson is also the answer to a college hockey
trivia question: Which D1 school has won the most games in their history
without winning an NCAA Championship (it's well over 1,000, but I've lost track.

Fricker - Clarkson class of 1968

You may not believe me, but I know it's Clarkson and meant no offense. What I did is commonly known as a "typo". It happens to the best bloggers, tweeters and even journalists. Unfortunately, spellcheck would never catch an error like that nor is there a USCHO editor to run this by.

Fascinating trivia there also.

owlslachief......apology accepted....it's not a big deal, and you're far from alone. All of the local newspapers have made the same typo, and there are thousands of folks living in "The City" who think Albany is "Upstate" and have never heard of Potsdam. The North Contry is beautiful, especially around Lake Placid, and Clarkson is very similar to Michigan Tech academically. (you
can throw RPI into that mix too).

Clarkson always has a competitive club, and heaviy recruits from Ontario & Quebec, being about 20 miles from the border. Enjoy the game.

Fricker

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Clarkson fan thinking of going to the games on Oct 9th and 10th. Anyone tell me a good place to stay near MSU and any food recommendations.

For some reason I always fall back on the Towne Place Suites recommendation. Has the feel of a comfortable studio appt. Still a good deal if I'm not mistaken. Fairfield Inn next to 96 not bad either.

The second question's tougher to nail down. East Lansing has something for every taste and culinary ethnicity.
The big ones are Dublin Square on Abbot north of campus and Harper's brewery a few paces to the east.
Bar&Grills tend to be on Grand River northwest of campus. Pizza, Asian and Mexican - Grand River east. Ethnic - a few good choices in Hannah Plaza off Hagadorn. Lots of family - type places NE of campus on Grand River.
I'm sure I left out a bunch.

Left out one important one as part of the B&G set - Crunchy's usually draws a hockey crowd before the game.

For what it's worth, I just had a burger from Lou and Harry's that was pretty darn good. :D
