Michigan State 2009-2010

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I especially like it when he goes crazy in the outro and throws his jersey 10 rows down onto some innocent bystander and fall onto people
Hey, I need some type of big finish. :D

What advantage is it to not include this game in the slapshots package? Because from what it looked like, not a lot of students paid for the game because they didnt get it.
An extra $150-to-$200 in ticket revenue?

That said, from my idea above, if just two people would have made the plunge on season tickets that wouldn't have bought them otherwise, my idea would have been justified.

good point, but possibly more students will be persuaded to buy the slapshots package if we throw in an extra game for the same price. I think your idea is good too about what they do at ferris.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Well, let's see here...

Four of the cheapest tickets at $20 each, multiplied by four: $80
Four small sodas at $3.50 each, multiplied by four: $14
Four hot dogs at $3.50 each, multiplied by four: $14

Total, minus web purchase and credit card fees: $108

Watching the next generation of rabid obnoxious Spartan fans walk in to Munn for the first time: priceless

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I've only been recommending that they do something like that for, what, three years now, I think?

Oh well. Better late than never.

And tonight also confirmed to me how badly they dropped the ball in regard to student tickets. They should have done what Ferris did last season for their exhibition and give out free seats to students. Promote the event through e-mail two weeks in advance, lump everybody in the current student section footprint, have SAF pass out one-page cheer cards and newspaper at the student gate, and use this opportunity as a last-second drive to sell student season tickets.

Instead, you get about 30 kids who decided to shell out $5, and, given the atmosphere tonight (which consisted of myself, two others, and a few loud members of the Brass), they probably felt pretty cheated.

I was told by the hockey office that what we saw tonight was the best option in their mind. Really?
Good ideas.

I saw at the GW game that you had the coach's ear in the concourse between periods. Have you ever tried bouncing any of your ideas off of him? Use your exuberance and be proactive about things. Be part of the mechanism for change.

Team looks good BTW! There appears to be some chemistry between the players that wasn't there last year. I hope we can stay healthy and keep some of the lines cohesive. Ontario was gassed in the 3rd though.

Rowe is one of my favorite players. He gets a C next year for sure.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

do we play clarkson home or away

because I thought they made an announcement at Munn that the next home game is vs Western MI.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Crowd was about where I expected it to be - horrid.

And Grant is slowly becoming one of my favorite players.

At the risk of going out of bounds and calling down a jinx-laden bolt from the gods of irony ... this young man could be the next Rick Porcello.

Edit: :o

How 'bout the next Bryan Lerg instead? That was my first thought Sunday night watching that breakaway goal.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Does anyone have any more information about Oct. 30, when MSU hosts Western and all "area" students can get in for a "reduced" price?

Is this 1/2 price?
How big is the area?
Do MSU students qualify?

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

First I've heard of it.

(And again, the mobile version of this forum stinks, much to my dismay.)

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Finally bought my tickets. Did they already do the slapshots pool? Can I still submit my picks?

Also, *** is up with the $12 handling fee. I specifically went to Jennison field house to not pay the online fee and I guess they added it this year, and usually its only $10 fee online!

Truly that is classic nickel&dime extortion and is &#@* infuriating.
At the very least they should come up with something a little more honest than the insulting, officious "handling fee" term.

Maybe "Because-We-Can" fee or "Over a barrel" fee.

Besides, don't all on-campus students pay an "activity fee"?

Activity fee? You mean just for going to classes?

Heres my bill for this semester

FS09 07/19/09 Business Program Fee 200.00
FS09 07/19/09 Matriculation and Energy Fee 235.00
FS09 07/19/09 State News Tax 5.00
FS09 07/19/09 ASMSU and FM Radio Taxes 19.75
FS09 07/19/09 In-state Undergrad Upper Div 4,977.00 (13cr)

Energy fee

The purpose of the is to address the extraordinary increases in the cost of energy and the requirements the University faces to sustain and expand the provisions of energy to meet the needs of our students and faculty. The fee isn't related to where an individual student might be physically located. Rather it's designed to address an extraordinary increase in one aspect of the overall "cost of doing business" for MSU.

Matriculation fee

A matriculation fee is charged to all degree-earning students regardless of the number of credits enrolled in. The fee includes a registration fee and infrastructure/technology fee. It provides students with email, computer hookup in the residence halls, computer enrollment capabilities, StuInfo, libraries, and the placement center, and assists with overall maintenance of the University.

Yeah, that floored me too. Used to love going to Jenison just so I could get around the various processing fees. That must be some hot binary they're handling if they need $12 to do it right.

Nothing on the Slaps pool at Munn on Tuesday - either they'll hand out forms before the game tomorrow, or they probably won't do it.

Im curious who won the slap pool last year. At the final game I was in second and thats all I heard. I must have lost my second place or they stopped giving out second place prizes.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Well a little bit ago i reflected back on last season by checking out the schdule/results. It actually seemed that our team was actually gelling and turning into a solid young squad a few weeks into the season. I remember being quite excited. The first few games were poor but then the second game against lowell, we turned it on and kept it there til OSU. You could even see it all in the stats. There were some bad memories though, like that Wisky game where we were outshot like 50 something to 12 or whatever, and it seemed like Mich. hung a minimum of 5 goals on us every game. Then dropping that game to the U18 team going into christmas break was proably one of the most empty feelings of the year. I am really eager to have those memories erased and for the team to shut up all of its critics. I checked out a practice for the first time today and i really like this team. I can't believe i have to wait like 18 hours for it to begin!
