Not that I'd be surprised to see it, but I'm expecting Maine not to roll over next weekend. At least they'll start someone in goal who gives them a chance. The backup who played this weekend hasn't won a road game in 3 years with the team. Nobody's really surprised to see that streak continue.

I'd still bet on MSU -- but I'm optimistic that at least the home team won't waste your time. Sure would be nice to see something resembling D1 hockey.

I don't care what Maine didn't do on October 9th & 10th. If MSU goes on the road and takes 2 points from a traditional upper-half Hockey East program in its own barn, that's a feather in our cap.

Very nice, hard fought victory last night. I think Clarkson is a solid team and w ill do much better than 11th or wherever they were picked to finish. They control the puck pretty well at times, especially on the powerplay. I wasn't a fan of how the game was called, though. Too many penalties all around for my taste and it kind of prevented any good flow from developing. I was really worried about Jarosz after that first goal because mannn was that weak. And right after that, they dumped it on net and he mishandled it and i thought he must have just wanted to get the hell out of there and hide but he seemed to settle it down nicely after that.

Good start for the year! Now onto Maine, who seems to be faultering a bit at the moment but i believe they will pull it together at home. Hopefully our team responds better on the road this year than last year.

Maine is also a team that's won 3 games since last Christmas. I'd think 2 points would be more of an expectation than a feather in your cap.

I too hope for a split in Maine, but would be very happy with winning two. Saturday's game gives me hope as the team fought back to win, unlike a year ago.

Now, I know it's early but I am optimistic about the '09-'10 MSU Spartan Hockey Team!

Hey it's nice that Derek Grant got CCHA Rookie of the Week, 2 goals, 2 assists and +4 - including a goal and and assist on the power play.

Well it seems we are the overwhelmng favorite to sweep this series according to the HE group around here. Opinions of Maine seem to be very low all around, yet opinions of us were very low before last weekend and look how that is looking so far. Buuuut I have a feeling that maine will be a decent team and we will have our hands full. I don't think we are good enough yet to walk out there and easily take 2 wins but we will see, i guess.

My guesses are 4-2 MSU on friday and 3-2 Maine on saturday.

Put it this way: if the team that State iced last season shows up this weekend, it'll be a series. If the team that showed up last weekend plays, it's 4 points for MSU. Yeah, Maine really is that bad.

heh, part of me hopes so because i would love 4 straight wins but i do want this team to be tested a bit early. That said, i think Maine is gonna bring their game.

Buuut somebody's gotta pick up the slack for the CCHA! I think we will be up to the task.

They've already had one test - last Saturday - and they responded.

The next portion of the exam is how these kids respond to a long trip and playing on the road. One step at a time ... :cool:

Thought the Spartan fans would find humor in these comments from Clarkson's Tom Pizzo...(converted d-man playing up front for the first time)

Thanks! As I just found out I will be working throught the night this might be a great way to keep track of the game if I can't listen to it.

st8 looked sharp from our end of rink. 1st star obv. to tropp. 2nd to crandell. hard 2 see how maine wins tonight _ msu looks like a condident bunch just now while maine looks a bit frustrated

I listened on the radio and it sounded like the only time Maine could get anything really going was on the powerplay. We performed better than i thought we would and now a sweep is expected. Gotta come out strong and stay out of the box
