Michigan State 2009-2010

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

MSUSpartans.com is advertising a double-header at Munn tomorrow. The USA vs. Finland game will be shown live on Spartanvision. This sounds great! I am sure I will be the only person there, but I plan to watch the USA game at Munn.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Sad to see Aallen go!:( I did see that it is a double-header but won't the US game be cut off for the start of senior night. Would be sad to not see the end of the game if it is close. However it doesn't matter for me because I won't be able to make it over there tell right around 6.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

With no tv timeouts the game should be over around 5:30.I am sure the sound will be muted at 5 when the players take the ice for their warmups.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I just realized that tonight is senior night for our last links to the national championship team. Sucharski and Sprague were on a line together during the 2007 frozen four and put together the sequence that lead to the game winning goal against Maine in the semi's. Johnston and Jarosz both played sparingly. It is incredible to think that the team that won the championship will have all passed on...I still remember St. Louis like it was yesterday.

On another note...The hockey gods are looking down on me today! I am fortunate to be working in East Lansing, and on campus today!! I'm going to watch the first period of the USA game at the Union and then run over to Munn after the first intermission.

Will I be the only person at Munn before 5??

Nope but i am watching it at home... US 6-0 WOW watch out Canada.

I couldn't be there for the viewing, but Doc Emrick (who's calling the game for NBC) gave a huge shout out to the "viewing party" at Munn.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Yea I figured there would be nobody there, so I'm watching at the union and then going over to Munn after the 2nd...

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Well MSU pulls off the first win 5-2. I thought they played really well. Sprauge gets another goal as well as Surcharski. (Both seniors) and Jaroz got to play some in the third. Quite the senior night.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Nice win to clinch a first round bye. I don't think anybody would have thought we would be doing that at the beginning of the season! I thought we played solid and it was fun having the outcome never really feel in doubt. The whole place seemed loose tonight and it was a good time. Great crowd, too.

Bowling green can be dangerous. Sometimes you can see why they nearly swept Notre Dame and other times you can see why they are 11th place or whatever.

Now let's finish the job tomorrow. Would be cool if Ferris could trip up here.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Ferris is going to a shootout. We goat****ed ourselves against WMU.

Congrats on 2nd place, guys.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Ehh bowling green gave us fits at their place earlier in the year and showed a few signs of life in tonight's game. I am not counting anything before tomorrow night's game is done.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

It official:

Ferris wins the Disney On Ice portion of tonight's festivities and MSU goes into tomorrow night's game 1 point ahead of Ferris.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I was very impressed with our Spartans tonight. We game out a bit slow after an emotional start but gathered ourselves and looked great the rest of the night. The only thing I would like to see improves is taking care of the puck around our own blueline.

On another note...Munn Arena is gain becoming a fun place to be. Attendance has been up, the volume has been up, and the energy is up. I feel like things are starting to getback to normal...this program ie starting to become respectable again in all facets.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Um... so, what did you guys think of that letter signed by "The Freshman Class of 2006" that was being passed around the arena last night?

ehhh i am not gonna give it too much credit. It really feels more like a disgruntled parent or player with a vendetta.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I agree. It concerns me that someone was so upset that they would make such a desperate attempt to take down the program like this. Sprague and Jarosz are top flight guys. I know for a fact that neither one of them would take shots at their coaches like this. I mean we didn't hear a word out of Jarosz when Comley picked Palmissano as his starter to replace Pert. Quality character players put the name on the front of the jersey above the one on the back. I believe this was the work of friends or family of Johnston that went too far.

I agree with not dressing Johnston. Just because. It is senior night that doesnt mean the team can sit back and be nestalgic. He would not be the first player to not dress for senior night. Although I do believe Coach Competitive coule have dressed only 2 goalies and easily left a spot on the end of the bench for him.

Man I really hate the automatic spelling correction on this new phone!

I can't speak to the specifics of the rulebut I thought it was combined...the reason we only dress 2 goalies on the road, as the limit in 2 less than at home.

Either way, I think this kid had some idea that he is entitled to dress last night. The guy is going to leave MSU with a world class education, a national championship ring, and some friendships he will keep for his entire life. If that is not enough for him, what ever will be? It is one thing if this was just a throw away game, but last night was the most important game of the season, just as tonight is.

Remember back in 2001 when Jeremy Jackson left the team (2nd leading scorer at the time) because Coach Mason sat him for a game for making the bus late to the airport? Jackson didnt like it so he left...some kids think they are entitled to certain things that they must earn.

It was entertaining. I'm glad somebody thought enough of it that they left it behind for me to pick up. I'll send it to back to Bullwrinkle with editing marks.
