Michigan Hockey...

How did they look yesterday? Hope to get 5 points next weekend?

That was probably the best weekend they've played this season. Solid effort throughout, which as we know, has been unusual for an entire weekend. I wouldn't bet on it, but if they play like that, 5 points at Minnesota isn't out of the question.

Quick reminder that B1G first round tickets are on sale today if you didn’t add them to your season ticket series.

I can't remember if I paid for the if necessary Sunday game or not. :( I do see in my account the friday & saturday quarterfinals and the note that the if necessary game will be sent Sunday morning.

Last season I failed at buying the playoff tickets and stressed trying to find seats near mine when logging in at 10 am hoping for the best.

Looking forward to watching tonight's game. I love the Michigan vs. Minnesota match ups typically. So much talent, speed and fun to watch every year.

Nice to know we are hosting games next week. Gotta see this weekend's outcome for who it will be. Most likely Notre Dame and I really don't want to play them again. Of course the way all the B1G teams are playing right now I don't know that there are any safe match-ups.

What a disappointing game.

I can't decide whether to think that was just a terrible, lackadaisical effort by Michigan, or to wonder why Minnesota didn't win the league.

Pretty impressive game last night but you sure got a gift on the winning goal. Sure there was no camera view to rule conclusively on the hand pass but we all know the puck didn't move out in the open all by itself.

Looked clear to me from one or two angles it was an elbow punch (or higher) and not a hand pass. Not enough credit was given to that player for not only that move but to make the play to get to the line and keep it in before the elbow pass. We could see his arm was bent so he glove would have been under him and you could see the sleeve numbers on the jersey was around where the puck hit so it seemed clear the glove was not involved even though the tv guys wanted it to be.

In a way I'm glad Mich is not playing in Wis. or Min. since that regions ref's have cost us players on non-calls. The first thing I do is check the ref's for the game then predict whether a major will be called on M. (Right now I'm batting .700) The knee to knee in Wisc., resulting in a season ending injury, and Jake B's head hit Friday. Is Piatrowski (sp?) still head of this area? Makes me wish for the Duke brothers to come back even at their advanced age they couldn't do any worse.

Yes, Piotrowski is still head of Big Ten officiating and complaints about ref bias is nothing new. When Pio was on the ice in the old CCHA it sure seemed he was in Michigan's pocket and cost anyone playing against Michigan, he was especially hard on Ohio State.
He lives in Michigan and was tight with Red and by strange coincidence always officiated all of Michigan's tournament games but nothing to see here, right?

I agree in that it seemed clear he used the elbow and not the glove/hand. Was one heckuva game. Both Minnesota and Michigan teams look like solid ncaa tournament field teams.

Good weekend. Did what they had to do and probably clinched a spot in the tourney. Would have preferred MSU in the next round, but should be a good one versus Minnesota.

season ticket holders: on the outside chance that the school down South beats Sparty and we beat Minnie, we could host the championship. You have through today to preorder tix.

Great sweep last week. 10 in the pairwise feels way more comfortable. Even if we lose with playing a higher ranked team, I think we're in. A few weeks ago and we were on the outside looking in sitting at 16, and then very bubbly at 13.

Looking forward to some great hockey this weekend.

Nice win- seems to make the PWR position more secure.

My one complaint- why does it take so long for the team to play that well? The D was suffocating to Minnesota, preventing their best from doing anything until the end of the game.

Then again, we don't know if they can put two super high games together in one weekend. We at least have the opportunity to see in a couple of weeks, as our season appears to continue.

Hoping the team has gotten the message that Defense Wins Championships. If play like Saturday night's continues, they can go a long way.

So we get North Dakota.

Didn’t see the game yesterday, how was it? Looked close, at lest.

Michigan looked like the better team. Dominated at times, but also there were times State controlled the play. My big angry is the reviewed goal for State. Our reviewed no-goal for goalie interference, ok. The one that State had reviewed and got credit for a goal, I have no idea how watching the replay that gets called a goal. Yes it was in the goal, but I think after the whistle blew, but maybe that was close. Bigger yet is what the tv announcers called out during the review, it went in the goal with Barczewki's leg pad which was pused into the goal by the State player. As one of my friends commented after the game, if that's how to score goals, why wouldn't every team just shove the goalie's glove into the net every time a puck is caught?

Would have loved to repeat as B1G tourney champs and get another banner, but what's done is done.

Onto regionals. Tough draw, but I'm not sure there is anything that isn't a tough draw. I like the way we've been playing lately, so we'll see how things go.
