Miac 2010-2011

It really does not matter what the scores were. The final result is wins and losses. The MIAC this year has been very competitive.

Personally, if I were a GAC fan, I'd feel more comfortable with wins like 6-0, 8-1, and 4-2 against those same teams. All this is stemming back to the "rules the MIAC" comment. If it has been so competitive, then there's no way to rule the MIAC. And now we've come full circle in the discussion :P

Wow LadyFalcon slumming in the Miac thread? To what do we owe the pleasure besides you coming on here and tooting your horn and ripping on the GAC fans.If the Falcons take care of business, and when the Gusties take care of business we will see who the better team is.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Not tooting my own horn, if you want I can. I'm really good at it. I'm not ripping on GAC fans either. Just sayin GAC clearly hasn't dominated as they have in the past, thus comments like "gustavus rules the miac" are inaccurate

At this point they do...

Gustavus * 12-2-2
St. Thomas * 10-4-2
Bethel 9-5
St. Olaf 9-5
Saint Mary's 8-5-3
Concordia 8-6-2
St. Catherine 6-7-3
Saint Benedict 3-10-3
Hamline 3-11-2
Augsburg 1-14-1

So when you look at the records who rules? Maybe you should just stay in your Con

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Never said they should have blown out the teams they lost to. But close games like 2-1 with olaf, 2-1 with ben's, 3-3 with concordia, 2-1 with hamline (2x). All those should have been easier wins than they actually were.

I agree with Ben's and Hamline, those games should not have been that close. Olaf is a up and down team that seems to play with anyone at the right time. Concordia is not a bad team, especially the way they are playing now. They beat Gustavus in that 3-3 game.

I'd be more concerned with the results against ST Thomas and St Kate. 1-1 vs St Thomas who is 0-5-1 outside of conference. 0-1-1 against St Kate who is 1-3 out of conference, 0-2 against the NCHA, and will not make the MIAC playoffs, which is probably good for the gusties.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Does anyone know what the criteria is and who votes for All-Conference,Honorable Mention All-Conference and All-Rookie Team?????? I have asked this question before and know one has an answer. Is it a secrete on who does this. I have looked everywhere and found nothing.

Thanks for anyone that does reply. Go Gustavus.

i'm not 100% sure on the MIAC... but in the NCHA it's a vote between all the coaches. it would only make sense that the MIAC does it that way as well

Coaches do all of this at a meeting. Based on the historical posting of the awards, I believe that meeting is happening as I type.

Playoff Predictions

Play-in
Concordia @ St. Olaf - Olaf wins to advance. Olaf has too many good scorers for Concordia's weak goaltending. As long as Ptachick does her job, Olaf shouldn't have a problem. I predit a 3 goal differential.

Semis
St. Olaf @ Gustavus - Gustavus wins, but it will be a nail-biter, one goal game.
Bethel @ St. Thomas - St. Thomas wins by 2. I watched these two play earlier this year and Bethel is no match.

Finals
St. Thomas @ Gustavus - GAC wins in OT

Not how I want it to turn out, but based on talent & results, I can't really argue differently.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

I was off by one win. Good year in MIAC too bad only 5 teams get in.

I agree to bad only 5 teams make it. They should just have them all make it. Think about the money and the fun we all would have. I know 2 teams that are very good did not make it and I'm sure the 1 and 2 place teams are happy about that. I know I am..............

Shots 46-23. Who has the good offense??

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Definitely a surprise to me, but Concordia deserved the win if they were able to pressure that much.

I completely expected Concordia to win that game...surprised it was that close. If I were the Gusties I'd be worried. This game could truly go either way.

Concordia definitely has come on strong as of late. I hope they give GAC a good game.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

I expect it to be a GREAT game tonight. Gustavus will come out strong like they always do. Concordia has been a fairly weak 1st period team but great in the 2nd and 3rd. If Concordia can come out of the 1st period even or on top, it will make for a great finish to the game.

Concordia has 5 of the top 6 scorers in the MIAC (Dold, Taffe, Westerham, Nelson (defense), Sell), so they obviously know how to pressure and score goals. Especially while on the PP. GAC's goalie is one of the best in the nation. Additionally, GAC does not receive a lot of penalties (although more often than not, this is scued do to POOR reffing which was the case in the series these teams played against each other in a few weeks back, of which Concordia had at least one of those games WON).

It is going to be a sensational game tonight! I am really hoping Concordia wins this for the simple fact that the MIAC is in need of a new face (nothing against GAC at all: great players, great coach, great system, awesome facility), and also I am slightly biased toward CC ;-) but a FAIR biased.
