Miac 2010-2011

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Wow. Gustavus was VERY impressive last night. After Concordia jumped out to an early lead (on one of the greatest plays I have seen in women's hockey, btw), Gustavus suffocated Concordia the rest of the game recording 4 power play goals. And, once again, poor reffing and Carroll buddy buddy-ing with the refs constantly does not make it any more obvious... But that is neither here nor there. Gustavus looks incredibly tough making this run into the national tournament and the better team won last night. Congrats Concordia on your amazing "after-Christmas" run. (coming out of christmas break with 1 lousy point and making it into the MIAC Semifinals). Be proud! Look forward to watching Gustavus continue this run as long as they can. Good luck Gusties!

I feel sorry for Bethel! Just saying :)

Congrats to Concordia on a great run. They have some real nice players. GAC proved to be the better team last night. The game tomorrow should be a good one. As far as your mentioning of Carroll working the refs, it truely pales in comparison on what was being spewed out of the Concordia bench, I am just saying...

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Trust me, Carroll is not buddy-buddy with any official in the league. Only a hand full of ref's will accept GAC games...
And did you say something about a great facility down there? Your kidding right? Maybe the rest of the "facility" that is connected to Roberts Ice Arena. The Lund Center is decent, DR arena not so much. With all that said, GAC does have the best team in the league this year and should make the NCAA's again. They make it work...

DR is a time tested facility, it could use some upgrades, no question. As far as Carroll and the Refs, is it no different on the mens side, only certain guys will do certain teams. All coaches "work" the refs some are better at it than others.

Exactly what is wrong with Don Roberts Ice Arena? Complaints have been made in the past about ice conditions, those have been fixed with a new cooling system put in, the locker rooms are good, not sure what you are talking about? If you look at the other colleges in the MIAC that have arenas on campus, this is by far the best.

that's like saying you're the best at robing liquor stores. you're still sketchy. i've been in the visiting locker room. that room barely qualifies for a locker room. just because it has lockers... in a room... doesn't mean it's a good locker room

Its been awhile since I was there...but I remember it being dark and just having a very old feeling.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Well, I'm guessing Adrian will be sent to Rochester, meaning that UW-RF and GAC would have another go of it. I think GAC is playing their best hockey now, and RF just lost their first...it would make for a very interesting game.

I went to watch the MIAC championship game and the ice had to be repaired multiple times along the side board so not sure that the ice issues have been fixed. It was almost comical watching 3 guys all standing there looking at the ice for a time and then more fellows coming and looking at it and then the refs themselves in a different period trying to fix it. No idea what the locker rooms looked like. It is dark relative to the excellent lighting in the other areas of their athletic complex there. Having all those facilities together tho on campus is a huge PLUS.

Good luck to the teams in the play-offs!
