Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

^As much as I would love it, I think you are safe. UMass just bought out a football coach and will apparently be paying off the remainder of Toot's contract too. The odds of them paying for a buyout on top of this are pretty slim in my opinion.

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

From a BC fan's POV I don't see UMass as a good enough step up for Dennehy to make a move -especially if they're reducing support as has been rumored

For that alone, the program should be commended.
Maybe I'm having a senior moment, but I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that Merrimack's program should be commended because the UMass program is only a small step above (your opinion) not a big step above? Kinda cryptic:confused:

Sorry was trying to quickly write out a compliment and came out poor...

For Dennehy to take MC from where he inherited to where it is now (considered more desirable than UMass) is commendable.

Better? i hope

Let's look at what Dennehy has going for him at MC right now:

-Financial stability/multi-year contract
-Full support from the administration
-Adoration by the student body and alumni base
-Monopoly on D1 athletics at the school
-What looks like a couple good recruiting classes coming up
-A five minute commute

I don't know how the Umass class this year projects, but I don't think they could possibly offer him a much better situation than he already has.

Much better, thanks, and I agree.

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

With the AD under suspension the diversion might now be in place fir a move to U Mass by MD

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

Not good news to see your AD suspended...

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

I assume it was a personal matter and not a personnel matter as USCHO is reporting it...

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

Anyone that knows Bingham Mcutchen knows 2 things.
1. They are very good and if it is there they will find it.
2. They are obnoxiously expensive. If I was an athletic supporter and gave them money I would be slightly annoyed. Ten to 1 they will bill the college in excess of 100 K +

What a waste of money

Hearing maybe that it is new rink associated

You are correct in what you say. Boston law firms are ridiculously expensive. Large egos and high rise rents etc.

However, Merrimack may already have a relationship with the firm and may have them on a retainer that has already been paid. That retainer would not normally have come from athletic funds and is accepted as one of the costs of running the college in this litigious environment.

Re: Merrimack Offseason Thread: Everyone else seems to have one.

It's probably a good idea to find out what's going on before saying it's a waste of money................

I think they tried to hire Dewey, Cheatem and Howe, but they weren't available. :D

Hokydad:
What do you hear regarding AD? I'm very curious to hear what he did to be placed on paid admin leave. Keys changed , escorted off campus, etc.
