Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

We better do big things this year because "hokydad" on The Mack Report was saying Mike Collins will be transferring to BU...

Not me, someone else using a name meant for only one moron. 0 chance bu would take

Zero chance it happens...Collins is too old to play a year of juniors like Saponari did before transferring in the conference and it just won't happen...hence the sarcasm and the quotes around "hokydad"

Okay, picked up an important 2 points over the Friars (boy they are tough against MC). Cannata steals a win as Warriors were outshot badly (39-23). A couple of notes:

Gravellese is #$%^&*@ awful. 5-min on Maurmann was borderline, but he doesn't get the gate, yet the same (perhaps lesser) hit by Heywood and he gets 5 and the game? Are you kidding me? Disgraceful.

My ears are still bleeding from having to listen to Brendan Walsh. Renders the broadcast almost unlistenable. Please call 1-800-TVRADIO, Connecticut School of Broadcasting wants a challenge.

MC will only go as far as Cannata carries them. Let's hope his back doesn't give out.

Vintage Joe tonight kept us in the game with 4 D's active. Any word on Sheen? He left grasping his wrist. Would hate to lose yet another talented player to injury (Seems like a pretty bad year for the health of MC, no?)

Steph DaCosta was in attendance today. It's awesome to see that he hasn't put MC in the rearview.

Anyone have a pair of tickets to BC @ Merrimack? Let me know - grant dot salzano at gmail dot com

Thanks!

RENCEB...a few of my friends discussed this after the game, but we came away thinking differently from you...Gravellese, to us, didn't make either of those calls...Frederico did, which is why I was ALL over him all game long LOL I just can't believe the inconsistency of some of these calls!!! Maurmann's hit was more dangerous than the Heywood hit, yet Heywood got the gate...it made NO sense to me!!! Oh well, a win is a win and I'll take it.

Thanks for the clarification (but Gravellese is still awful :D)
Seriously, that was a big win. Nate Leamann has PC headed in the right direction (last weekend vs BU notwithstanding). They always play MC tough. Huge stretch drive coming up. BU next weekend will be an enormous game. Sounds like 3 of the last 5 home games are already sold out (I have tix for the UMass game). May have to get up to Tsongas in a couple weeks.

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

....and down the stretch they come. 10 games left, 6 of them "4 pointers", starting tomorrow night (1xBU, 2xBC, 3xUML). Would love to see them go 4-2 or better on these games; hold serve at home and sneak a win @ UML or BC (maybe they can snap their streak of futility @ Conte). Head to heads with UML will be HUGE (like the old DII days for me!!) 3-1 on the others (3xUMass and 1xUNH) to go 7-3 down the stretch. 6-4 overall puts the Warriors exactly were they were last year, record wise, at 16-8-3 for 35. I think they can do better than that. Anyone word on Sheen for this weekend?

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

I am thinking Merrimack sweep this weekend. In a close game tonight MC wins 3 2 and tomorrow night a 5 3 w in Amherst

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Well, we got dominated, this semester's BU team seems to be no joke for sure and MC had no answer for the kind of pressure they were facing. Tonight's game at Mass becomes all the more important. We're not in a position to leave HEA points off the board. Hope Sheen and Ellis return.

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

How do you come out THAT unprepared for a big game, at home??? For a while, it looked like the old days, DI BU vs. DII MC.
If you had told me going in that they'd limit BU to 20 shots, I'd like their chances. However, when you let BU skaters walk in alone (Clendening) stand right at the doorstep (Gill) generate 3 on 2's because no one is backchecking (4th goal) you get exactly what you deserve.
Very disappointing, and obviously not ready for prime time.

It would be a shame for Merrimack that a couple of key injuries may cost them home ice. While thoroughly waxed by BU's first line last night, missing Madsen, Sheen, and Ellis is simply too much to not have against the top teams of the league. The only tiebreaker they have is with Maine and will tiebreaker TBD against BC and Lowell, that's not the best position to be.

Would you be stating the same sentiments had BU lost? ;)
I believe they are quite depleted at the moment also.
But no worries. I wouldn't have either... they're BU... phk them! :p :D

I would have been surprised if either team won by the margin or ease that BU did last night. Thought the game would have been a lot closer.

As someone who saw a season implode in 2002 when the French trio left the River Hawks for the Olympics, it would a shame to see it happen to any team, especially one that doesn't have the same pedigree or history of a BU or even BC.

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

After a disappointing Friday night I thought Merrimack did a great job beat U Mass on the road where the Minutemen had been playing well. The only thing that aggrevated me about last night were the amount of embellishment calls. It was absurd.

I was at there last night. I am too pretty ****ed off about the embellishment calls. It seems like Merrimack always gets a matching embellishment call...

The refs are too eager to call it.

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Wasn't at the game tonight, but I listened. Sounded like a close game that Merrimack was in but couldn't put the puck in the net. Any Merrimack fans there who can give some insight?

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Gettin' a little nervous about home ice prospects. Still up 1 point on Maine (with a game in hand AND the tiebreaker), but Maine's goltending situation has solidified with Sullivan and their offense remains hot. MC has had the goaltending all along, but can anybody score? 8th in offense in HE is putting a HUGE burden on Canatta and the defense. Dennehy has to figure out some line combinations or something (are they using the stretch play as much this year?) to find some goals. I'd like to make a trip to the Garden again this year, but if they have to travel for the quarters, I'm not sure I see that happening.

Merrimack had a player hanging for much of the night last night at Lowell.
