Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

i think a bussing program is a great idea, but i don't think there would be any chance in having a bus after last call. it would be a departure right after the game and that's it for sure. if MC wants to deal with a couple drunk folks they want it on their own turf. In other news it's been a long time since i posted on here so i'm happy to see the great increase in chatter on the MC boards. I hope that if we end up getting into regionals that MC ends up in the northeast, either manch or bridgeport (hopefully bridgeport as i live in ct)...i think MC would travel well to either location.

Wait, am I really having a civilized conversation with a fan from my most hated college in the country, BC??? I keep looking up to make sure the sky isn't falling on me ;-)

With any luck, if the sky doesn't fall on you, something else will. :D

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

I don't know a lot of schools that do that... I don't think UNH does.

It's been great to see the students and alumni getting more and more involved during the games over the course of the year, but I think that a "come to jesus" of sending them up to places like UNH or NEU would have a pretty profound effect. I know when I was there, there were 4 championship (and several playoff series win) riots. I'm optimistic that can be translated to the hockey program.

Any NCAA bid would bring alums and school pride out of the woodwork, no doubt. People who I haven't talked to in years are asking me questions about this team, and it's refreshing to see they are paying attention. At the Northeastern game we had to have about 100 fans right behind the MC bench, I can only imagine what we could bring for the tourney if we get there.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

just throwing this out there, gutterson is all bleachers except the one end which might as well be too as it is little plastic butt shaped seats.... so one could certainly argue guttersons comfort and sight lines, may be quite a bit worse than lawlers.... also in all of the lower bowl seats at conte it is near impossible to see half the ice. Lawler is fine, and the team on the ice is what people are paying to see and you can see them better there than any other rink in the league as you are right on top of the action.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

We only have one game in hand after sweeping the Blue Bears this past weekend :p

but a 4 point lead assuming you win your game in hand. technically you are right but i call a 2 point lead and a game in hand as 2 games in hand, weird , i know but given your standing i assume (that word again) you win your game in hand . that make any sense?

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

Thanks...and do me a favor...if it's not meant to be for MC this year, can you guys just win the whole thing so I can stop hearing the BC fans refer to you guys as the University of No Hardware? Please?!?!?!?! :)

i think the Mainah's contribute to that quite a bit, no? :confused:i read some of that thread last week and they held their own on the No Hardware thing;).........hell, i'd like to see UNH win it too, class program and fans , IMO and Umile and I share the same home town and high school alma mater so of course i want to see him get that trophy

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

No one playing for UVM, UNH, NU or ME would swap rinks. Leave all else alone, simply lift and swap rinks. Not one kid would do it and if so, the vast majority would leave the school. Every rink if you are on the side and only the first 15+/- rows has similar views.

of course none of their players would swap rinks, they all lose here! :)

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

and i wasnt talking about the players anyways i was talkin about the fans as were you originally. All i was saying is gutterson is all bleachers and people were sayin they dont wanna pay to sit on bleachers, and you cant see the half the ice from many seats in all those other rinks and i feel at lawler not only can you see it all you feel a real part of it. Its a great place to be a fan, and apparently a good one to be a player given the whole best home team in the country the last two years thing.

Providence has nothing redeeming about it's rink. Lot's of limited view seats and the pipes all around. Never anyone there, terrible atmosphere. That program is going in the opposite direction of Merrimack's.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

tough to judge programs based upon this year, the first time MC has ever been above 500....

I doubt a poll would be any worse than 95% to 5% in favor of Schneider, a far superior rink with every bit as intimate a feel as Merrimack. That was a great place to watch a game when they were year after year competing for a top 4-6 spot.

I know the visiting lockers are not as good as East Boston's MDC rinks, I mean MC's, but what can you do.

Schneider is much better than Lawler in my opinion. Much better now with the new seats, etc.

This year? Try the last three. I remember PC having good years in the 90s and early 2000s. I remember seeing them win a HE Championship at the Garden in 96. I remember seeing them make an NCAA Tournament appearance with I believe Rask, Omicioli, Pisani, etc.

PC's last four years
2007-2008: 14-17-5, 11-11-5 HEA (5th place)
2008-2009: 7-22-5, 4-18-5 HEA (T-9th)
2009-2010: 10-20-4, 5-18-4 HEA (10th place)
2010-2011: 7-13-6, 3-11-5 HEA (9th place)

MC's last four years
2007-2008: 12-18-4, 6-18-3 HEA (10th place)
2008-2009: 9-21-4, 5-19-3 HEA (T-9th)
2009-2010: 16-19-2, 12-13-2 HEA (6th place)
2010-2011: 17-5-4, 11-5-3 HEA (3rd place, tied with BU, game in hand)

One program is going up, one program is going down.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

You could be right. Over last 4 years, as you used. PC finished ahead in 2 and MC in 2.

lets see after JC and SD leave.

One saason does not make a program. Forget about the last 4, simply talking about MC. One winning season coming off a 16-19 season last year.

I think PC also shut them out this year.... I doubt they will be looking for a banner if they win the season series matchup....

What is your problem?

You are so pathetic. You said one season does not make a program. I agree with you. I also realize PC has been better than MC for many years now, but taking the last four, PC is heading in the wrong direction and MC has been moving up with MD.

Joe Cucci has eleven points over the last four games, too. Those two have really picked it up the last few weekends. Cucci is a great set up man and Barton does not have blazing speed or a sniping shot, but is a very smart hockey player who sees the ice well.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

I've been reading these boards for yrs but haven't posted ever because, quite frankly I haven't had the time. But, hokydope has me heated. The ignorance he displays is borderline hysterical. Making this huge claims about what great guys Serino and the old prez were......hmmm, how was Serino's last recruiting class? All the big donors left with serino? Why are they making improvements to the rink after Serino left? The only improvement under Serino's watch was the BLC and locker room. Then everything stopped and was dead for YEARS.

He leaves, Santa leaves, and all of a sudden things are getting done again! Like magic!

No, the guys who were sucking the blood out of the program are gone, plain and simple.

It's so refreshing to see what Mr. Hoffmann and Coach Dennehy are doing. Getting good quality players and GOOD QUALITY PEOPLE both in the locker room and surrounding the program. The BLC was empty for years and now you can barely move in there on a game night. Support is literally bleeding out of the walls. But according to hokydope, Malden Catholic has better support then Merrimack College.

Hokydope must be Comm. Bertagna, right? I mean, read all of these threads, he's an expert on every team in the G-D league.

PC in Hockey east playoffs, 24 times.

PC has been top 4 in tournament 13 times, MC has been top 4 zero times. Only top 5 once. I get the trend thing but under 500 last year and a good season this year does not define a program. It means a good season. lets hope they can build on it.

With losses this year to PC, UML and NU this year, you neevr know what might happen down the stretch.

The 4 games left with Maine and UNH will say a lot.

you defend pc like you have a kid on the team....mc and pc are in different worlds right now. irishfan has it right, one going forward and one going backwards.
