Me Too 2021 -- Men Still Suck

You think when they hit 30 women, he’ll have to pull a second lawyer in to drive the effort?

for fucks sake you are exactly why women aren’t running to the police

If they ran to the police I would be much more inclined to believe them. That didn’t happen here.

As someone who has had athletic massages it definitely is a weird experience. From what I’ve read he was up front that he wanted them working in the danger area, which is completely normal.

It doesn’t make any sense why he wouldn’t settle if he had any guilt at all. What they were demanding was pretty short money for him. There is a big dispute between him and his team right now and as much as you would like to think that isn’t a factor certainly is quite a coincidence.

Alright, let’s say they’re lying at a 95% clip when it comes to being sexually harassed/assaulted. You like 29% odds that they’re all full of sh-t? A 90% clip drops it to 8% odds every single one has been coached by the Houston Texans owners so that they can get more favorable contract terms with their newly minted sex offender QB. And then pass those savings along to the Houston attorney prosecuting him, since he’s driving this now 3/4 full bus of Watson accusers.
Do you often ejaculate during YOUR athletic massages you say you’ve had? No? I didn’t fucking think so. Bless your fucking heart man.

What motivation do women have to lie about harassment and assaults? Even when the accused is proven guilty, they get shamed and smeared throughout the entire legal process and beyond. In the rare cases that allegations do turn out to be false, the accuser usually has a mental health problem and it was a cry for attention.

I think this, along with a propensity of courts to accept an argument by a father that a mother's claim of child abuse in the context of a divorce or separation is nothing more than a smear campaign as part of that divorce, are two huge problems in our justice system right now that can really be remedied by doing nothing more than believing someone who we otherwise have no reason to doubt.

I don’t think many women who go to the police are making it up. For me that is a separate kettle of fish than this situation.

I was reading through the allegations against Watson just now and it sounds like two women have specific claims and are filing for sexual misconduct and the rest are somewhat vague and are for civil assault. One of the women who filed a sexual misconduct suit apparently asked for $30k after her encounter with Watson. I’m not sure these situations are as clear cut as lying or telling the truth. There is a huge gray area that for me is more misrepresentation than lying.

If he did accept oral sex from any of the masseuses it at a minimum shows a huge lack of judgment on his part. That’s completely different than sexual misconduct though.

That's not what we meant by "oversight," sir.

Booth, who retired under investigation in 2019, had been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2004 and worked for the Naval Audit Service for years. His office, with headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard and more than 300 employees, scrutinizes Navy programs for effectiveness, efficiency and accountability.

The inspector general found that Booth propositioned at least five female employees, including four whom he requested sexual favors from in exchange for career advancement, “all under the guise of professional career ‘mentoring’ that the employees expected from a senior leader.”

The woman who said she had a sporadic, long-term relationship with him told investigators that she believed it to be consensual “but later realized that Mr. Booth’s conduct throughout her career in establishing a sexual relationship with her, a subordinate, and holding career advancements over her, fit the definition of sexual harassment” under Defense Department standards, the report said.

The Defense Department has faced questions about its handling of sexual assault and harassment accusations, and predatory behavior.

Of 56 office employees interviewed, 19 said Booth acted professionally, 14 said he had a reputation as a “womanizer,” and three described him as being a “predator” with a reputation for pursuing young women in the office. Four women said other employees warned them about Booth.

Sounds like there’s now a criminal investigation into the football player.

he got 18 masseuses to say he’s not been sexual with them. Christ how many does he go through?

multiple women said he forced them to perform oral sex, ejaculated on them, or had them touch his penis. Yeah totally normal massage behavior of true

I really, really wish workers in this country would wise up, face reality, and realize that jobs are jobs and nothing more. You provide your labor in exchange for compensation in whatever form(s) that takes. The end. They're not your family, they aren't looking out for you, they're looking out for Number 1 and you should to. And yeah, HR is there to protect the company, not you. That should not be shocking.

All those "benefits" provided by Google and Facebook and other tech companies are meant to keep you at work longer so that you do more for them for less. They've made the calculation that providing free Starbucks and massage chairs is cheaper than paying you higher wages or hiring more people so you don't have to work ridiculous overtime.

I mean, I guess I feel sorry for the woman in the article because her naiveness was likely the result of her being homeless/foster care growing up rather than through any fault of her own. But I also wonder how you make it through college with a good enough resume to get a job at Google without having gotten an inkling about how the real world operates.

Well Google does a good job of hiding their crap from the public...so I would bet there is a lot of idealism that plays into it. Its a dream job and such. Like the people who become cops or lawyers to "do what is right". The stuff coming out about how Google treats anyone who reports an issue with a boss or coworker about sexism or racism does not match their public image so I could see why someone who has always wanted to work there (or in tech in general) would have a bit of tunnel vision until it is too late. I mean people work for Apple, a company that makes billions off sweat shop workers and only treat people fairly when it doesn't hurt their bottom line (and their fans defend them to the death) and never think twice.

I think Google is going to end up in some trouble here soon...

I worked for a company who paid all the premiums for everyone's healthcare, had the coffee bar and the game room, etc. All of which was used as the reason why most employees were paid 20-40% under the average market salary for their role and why our annual raises were 1-2% at best.

It was a great place to be entry-level. Beyond that...not so much room for advancement in either salary or leadership roles.

It's beyond silly to think any corporation is being altruistic when it comes to fringe benefits. Take them for all the money you can get and watch that clock long and hard to ensure you aren't coughing up any OT if you don't have to.

And working retail, where the best I can get is a 10% discount on general merchandise and occasional provided lunch, I'm trying like hell to get out of Meijer.

Coworkers are great. But there is something better out there.

Could not agree more. Fortunately, I learned this lesson good and hard with my first job, and I have worked for "LynahFan Inc" ever since - I just sell my services to the most attractive bidder, which at different times in my life has been about pay, flexibility, or the nature of the work. Companies have zero loyalty to me; why should I have any to them?
