Re: Mcha 2010-11
The whole MCHA landscape looks different these days. With regards to Marian, Wise has done a very good job of marketing the school in Alberta. He put together a really great recruiting class last season, and that was enough to create some separation from LU, LF, MSOE and Finlandia. It will be interesting to see if anyone else has put together a similar class this season. The AQ is massive from a recruiting perspective. Finlandia should benefit greatly from the stability created by (and the quality of) the new coaching staff. Even with a short summer it looks like they were able to find some nice kids. Clearly they will be better. MSOE looks like it has some good players coming in as well. They have a lot of institutional support and great facilities. LU has a very good coach at the helm and continues to improve year-over-year. I could see them taking a game or two from Marian this season. LF has been around the block as a program and its staff knows what it needs to do to get back to where they were a couple of years back. Their tradition and name recognition is still very strong.
Oh, and Adrian isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. The margins of victory might be smaller, but they will continue to be an excellent, excellent program even after the graduation of this senior class.
All in all, it should be a pretty interesting year for the league. I would hope that in a year or two from now, we can look back and say that no one team will ever dominate the league quite like Adrian did during its first three years. That would be league-wide progress. It is also up to a couple of programs to make that happen.
