Mcha 2010-11

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Great post.
"Big game experience" during the regular season is a huge advantage for teams to prepare, improve, and succeed at the highest level. There are great rivalries developing within the MCHA, but the 20 game conference schedule will restrict the rate of improvement to the highest level.

The interlock teams play a 19 game schedule and still find room for some pretty good NC games - although we (Norwich) ended up having to schedule an extra game against Castleton to fill out our schedule. NC scheduling depends of willing partners. Holiday tournaments provide good opportunities for non-traditional matchups.

I think it would help create more "big game experiences" if the NCAA would allow out of region games to count during the break. It would encourage more excursions into hostile territory. It was good to see Adrian out here last week - I just wish that those games would have counted for NCAA purposes. What is really dumb is that your game with Buffalo St. won't count, even though it's closer than most of the West is to Adrian.

I've never really understood the NCAA's logic behind the exclusion of out of region games for tournament consideration.
Is it strictly to discourage longer trips that might interrupt attendance at classes ?
I'm sure over the years some of these games could have made a meaningful difference in the tournament selection process.

As for Buffalo State's proximity to Adrian...I think you would find it is closer than any western venue. Lake Forest may be the exception ???

It was originally justified on class time and expense basis. It was proposed/passed, but never implemented to allow out of region games during school breaks to count as in region games if both teams agreed. The fear now seems to be that it gives some kind of advantage to well-financed programs.

The reality is that the system was designed for sports like basketball where there are lots of teams in close proximity. Adrian and hockey don't fit. But the NCAA is all about one size fits all solutions. This means that hockey's problems don't exist.

OK, I really have to know: what is a "pete rose staircase climber?"

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Well, he's alive.

Gosesteppers and gungelweads. That's good stuff. And I'm not even going to address his ride on the love canal.

Um, that's Lake Palcid to you, buddy.

This latest bout of incoherence has inspired me to perhaps work on a project today. I do have some free time...

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Short of alcohol being involved, I don't even want to know what that could possibly motivate you to do.

Thanks for the correction. :D Lake Palcid, was'nt there a movie made about this place involving a man eating alligator? No, it must have been a croc.

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Hopefully we get MCHA officiating instead of the CCHA crews we've had in the past.

Hammer, which Adrian squad do you expect to show up for this series? Are the Bulldogs disinterested in everything short of NCAA tourney hockey (kind of like the Redwings)? Vegas needs to know.

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Hard to tell. It could be all of the above. I thought we were off to the races after they pasted Marian opening night, and had a 2-0 lead early in the next game. From there we've been all over the board.

If Adrian plays like they're capable, it's their weekend. If not, who knows?

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Multiple meaningful conference series here in 10/11? I hardly recognize this conference. This has the potential to be a pretty exciting series thanks in part to a healthy dose of bad blood. If they come to play, the Bulldogs should pick up a pair of close victories. If they take a period or two off this weekend, they could be in trouble.

Re: Mcha 2010-11

Adrian 6
MSOE 1

The focused Adrian team came to play. I don't think MSOE played badly. I just think they ran into a cement truck in Adrian tonight.
