Mariucci Classic (Minnesota Niagara Northeastern Princeton) 12-30,31

Re: Mariucci Classic (Minnesota Niagara Northeastern Princeton) 12-30,31

I was shocked at how full the arena was for the Gophs-Purple Eagles game last night. This tourney has had lousy attendance lately and tickets have been easy to come by. Last night we couldn't find a way for the two kids I brought to sit by a couple of their buddies (which is usually no problem). Got lucky that the guy sitting next to us came alone and sold his other ticket to someone who sat elsewhere.

Gophs looked sharp, nice win. Hope they can complete it tonight. Expect better from the Huskies than I saw last night (came in in the third period).

Niagara and Princeton are tied at 1 after the first period.

Yeah I watched the game on Gopher access and it looked like a full house last night, right now there are about 100 people in the stands from the looks of it.

Solid team defense and a hot goaltender. Beats MN every time.

At the game. Anyone listening on the radio? Has Wally lost it yet?

He lost it on the elbowing at the end of the game. Even Frank was puzzled, to say the least.

Grats to NU on the win, you guys have gone on the road and won some tough games so far this year.

I wish we could have played some more 5 on 5 and not given you guys 12 PP's though.

Notre Dame up next with Bjugstad and Rau back in the lineup.

What was done at the 20:00 minute mark of the 3rd to get an un-sportsmanship? Lucia? Players?

no clue, but would guess tDon. He was livid on the elbowing penalty, screaming at the refs, per radio.

Lucia went out and said something to the refs after the game... wasn't the players at all.

Story of the game was Northeastern's goaltender. Still don't understand how you get 24 minutes of power play and still get out shot. Weird game. Northeastern gets two goals on 5-on-3 power plays, and Gophers get both their goals short handed.

Not certain why Gophers played so undisciplined and watching on the stream from Boston, you really cant see every play lots of calls away from the grainy uni-vision camera. However, your not going to win any hockey games going to the box 12 times. Not sure if they were all deserved but only 2 goals where short handed. I will take it and hopefully the powers that be finally rank us. I think we have had one of the harder schedules in the country so far playing teams that have been ranked in the top 3 at the time we played them 9 times so far in 18 games. We have done well in this tournament overt he years. Hopefully, we can put some more quality Hockey East wins together in the 2nd half against BU and BC and we might see you in the tournament. I know you guys were without a couple of top players. Our goalie is the difference, I think he is playing well right now made some mistakes in the Princeton game but shook off 3 weeks of rust due to down time and a likely trip back home to British Columbia for the holidays. However, considering our team is a patchwork of kids who lost the entire senior 1st line scoring from last year the head coach’s (Cronin) departure to the NHL and a slew of waived commitments, to our rivals in Boston, Major Jr and Minor Pro, I was really expecting <10 win season. Nice job Huskies! I would lve to see a game in Minnesota though looked like a great crowd, not the doghouse barn, but a nice attmosphere filled with real puck fans like we have here in Boston for sure. If your ever in Boston during hockey season catch a game over in our house.
