Marathon Killers Apprehended: the Aftermath

Re: Marathon Killers Apprehended: the Aftermath

Has anyone asked Eric Rudolph if they are similar to his?

Why would you ask that? You going for anti-American irony? Anti-abortion irony? What? Rudolph should be on death row. And so should Thing #2. Any questions? In a free country we don't use explosives to punctuate our political discussions. Period.

Just curious. It's hardly my fault if you want to make every post about politics.

Meanwhile Bill Ayers, he of Weather Underground bombing fame, finds no similarity between his bombings and the Things' bombing as his "never killed anyone."

The guy is slimy, isn't he.

Suppose if they had YouTube it wouldn't be "attempted murder, Bill Ayers" but "murder, Bill Ayers".

The thing is. People in his world lap it up. These are the types that excuse all kinds of excrement in name of the cause.

Re: Marathon Killers Apprehended: the Aftermath

(CNN) -- The difficult question of where Tamerlan Tsarnaev's body would be laid to rest appears to have been settled.

The remains of the slain Boston Marathon bombings suspect have been entombed thanks to a "courageous and compassionate individual (who) came forward," police in Worcester, Massachusetts, said Thursday.

Police did not say where the body was entombed, but did say that it is "no longer in the city of Worcester," where the body had been at a funeral home while a relative and officials tried to determine what to do.

The city's police chief "thanks the community that provided the burial site," police said in a written statement.

For some reason this mini-drama about "what to do with the body?" reminded me of the Greek tragedy Antigone which was about a similar concern: the leader wanted to let the traitor's body remain unburied, but that was considered sacriligeous and naturally the Gods punished Creon for his temerity. I abhor what Speedbump did but eventually what else were we going to do?

I suppose cremation would have been an option. take his ashes and use them as fertilizer somewhere as a symbolic statement of rebirth that cannot be vanquished or something like that.

As usual, a movie reference. I'm reminded of when Rosiland Russell in "Auntie Mame" informed her anti-semitic potential in-laws that she was establishing the Epstein Home for Jewish Orphans right next to their property.

If he's buried in my grandmother's cemetary in Paxton I'm driving up with a keg of pig blood and disinterining the disgusting stain of humanity.

Take some bacon sandwiches and make a day of it.

Boston Bombing Suspects Implicated In 2011 Triple Murder

ABC News reports that law enforcement officials have collected "mounting evidence" connecting the Boston bombing suspects to a 2011 triple murder.

As the Atlantic reports, the 2011 killing in question involved Brandon Mess, "a friend and former roommate of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, [who] was murdered along with two other men in Mess's apartment in Waltham, Mass., one town over from Watertown, where Dzhokhar was captured, and two towns over from Cambridge, where the Tsarnaevs most recently lived."

The victims in the unsolved case had their "throats slashed" and "their bodies covered in seven pounds of marijuana," according to The Atlantic.

Now law enforcement officials tell ABC News that some crime scene forensic evidence provided a match to the two Tsarnaev brothers [Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev]. The officials also said records of cell phones used by the Tsarnaevs appears to put them in the area of the murders on that date.

The law enforcement officials who spoke to ABC on condition of anonymity, said they were waiting on further DNA evidence before bringing an indictment against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. His brother was killed in a firefight with police.

Speedbump didn't like his little brothers habit of dope smoking and took out his dealer

Or he was a rival dealer.

(Speedbump is the first truly creative nickname I've seen. Well done.)

Okay, call me sentimental, but this story choked me up.

The prom queen dazzled with a jeweled tiara — and decorated crutches.

Six weeks after nearly bleeding to death in the Boston Marathon bombing, 18-year-old Sydney Corcoran was reunited with her Lowell, Mass., classmates, who voted her prom queen.

Re: Marathon Killers Apprehended: the Aftermath

BAA issues special invitation to 2013 Boston Marathon starters. This is good to see. Happy for my cousin since he was stopped at mile 25.2.

The people I knew of (friends/relatives of friends) thankfully finished just a bit before the incident. Hope your cousin runs next year, and finishes like a boss.

Okay, call me sentimental, but this story choked me up.

Count me in the sentimental camp, too. Anything to give the finger to the bombers and the people (if any) who support them.

Re: Marathon Killers Apprehended: the Aftermath

Like I said, the best punishment for the bomber would be to wheel him to the finish line every year for the rest of his life and force him to watch the marathon finishers.

Think Hannibal Lecter:

Make him lie down, and be the finish line. ;)

Re: Marathon Killers Apprehended: the Aftermath

Priceless already posted this in the "genuinely nice planet" thread, I thought it deserved to be noted here as well:

Boston Marathon attendees who fled restaurants without paying when their meals were interrupted by the deadly bombings are now stepping up to settle their bills — from all across the nation.

Calls and checks are arriving from patrons all across Massachusetts and from as far away as Florida, Virginia, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
