Maine

Considering the remaining schedule I would be stunned if they missed the playoffs. It would require a UConn sweep at Alfond and a few other things to go wrong.

If we go 6-3, what are odds of home ice. Probably not good. Since the three losses could be a strong hold for teams above Maine. Then we travel, then odds are a 1-2 in HE quarters. So, probably a close but no cigar kind of season.

JHC, Mike, never even considered that possibility.

Can you imagine a scenario in which Maine fans would pine-away for Red? Good God. I want to live long enough to read THOSE posts!

(Or do I? :p)

Yuhh, it's a bold new strange world. That debate could occur in five years! 😄

Re: Maine

oh, it exists. Have you ever asked the Warden about the Slovaks?

Sean

Don't even get her started about the Slovaks...

(Kinda similar to asking a Mainer what they think about NH, or the inverse. Never going there again, as cute as she is when she's angry.)

Re: Maine

Interesting read...I for one would hate to see a Hockey East go by the wayside...figure it won't happen...a 12th team, ok, but not just for the sake of having a 12th team...sadly I would want to see Quinnipiac in and not Sacred Heart...but that won't happen as QU will stay in the ECAC. My other concern is...are they thinking like the BIG10 and dreaming dollars instead of sense..? Old Timer here, Hockey East forever...and like the IDEA/CONVERSATION that Maine Hockey has some peoples attention, and in a positive direction...winning/home ice(?maybe?)...but like the idea even if they go in as a #7 or #8, they could stun a #1 or #2 in the Quarter-Finals...but then a article and dream...thankfully the weekend is almost upon us and the drop of the puck is day from now....GO MAINE..!

Re: Maine

I love Hockey East, and I'm *guessing* that it's been the premier conference in the nation over the span of its existence. I faithfully pull for all HE members OOC (yes, even BU!) and if not for that fact I wouldn't have half the enthusiasm for the NCAA's that I do now, even during this long Maine PS drought. I'm sure many of us have done the same thing lately, putting on a PC hat or a UMass hat or a BC hat or a UML hat for the tournament, and having a genuine rooting interest. And I watch a ton of RS OOC games, too, both on the tube and in person, such as NU at RPI and the like.

That'll change if realignment occurs. I've lived it via Big East basketball.

As a Syracuse fan, I'd watch dozens of OOC games and -yes- even rooted for friggin' Georgetown OOC! Since SU left for the ACC football-payday, however, my interest in college hoops has contracted to almost nothing. I'm sure as Hell not going to watch Duke, UNC, et al play anyone other than SU, nor give a s*** about them in March. They can all go pound sand on that one. And an analogous situation will probably result for many of us if HEA is fractured.

I realize that this will be a money decision, but how much money can be gained or lost via college hockey, anyway? The move to the Big 10 certainly hasn't improved the hockey-situations of MN, MI, or WI, and I'd have to guess that those programs take in less revenue, too. (Yeah, maybe the TV contracts make up for that.)
