Maine

And Maine rises all the way to...25th...

Poles, Pohls, poles, and polls are irrelevant in college hockey.

And yet New Hampshire gets a win and tie against lower ranked Massachusetts, one of them at home, and rockets up by 50 points and was 2 points away from being ranked. A likely story...

Re: Maine

Ok, #4 BC drops 2, not 1, but 2 games at home over the weekend to unranked Maine. In the 1/27/20 poll update, BC drops from USCHO #4 down to #5. Really?? What would they have to do to drop out of the top 10...cancel the Hockey Program? One of the few rubs I have with USCHO but a legitimate one.
Well, BC is 5th in both the PWR and RPI...

The real question is how a team like Sacred Heart at 30th in PWR gets on the poll ahead of Maine.

Re: Maine

Going up to Maine this weekend. First time up there in years (I think it was the Merrimack-Maine playoffs from 2004). Any suggestions on where to eat? Staying near the casino.

Maybe because they are 16-8-2 overall, 13-6-1 in there Conference, and have beaten these teams Yale, UConn, Quinnipiac and BU.

Pats in orono is pizza, iconic place. Also Mason's in orono, it has a brewery.
Microbrewery Gagan's near where your staying. Timber kitchen in Bangor near there too but pricey, Patty murphies in Bangor, downtown close to casino.

Masons is a microbrewery in Brewer along with Geoghan's which is just down the road from Masons. Masons is on the Brewer water front almost directly across the river from the casino. Masons has food but Geoghan's has only a tasting room and bar. Both places have good beer.

Re: Maine

Oh come on! Yale is terrible. Who could possibly lose to...oh, right...
And to others also...and just maybe they have a good team, just in a weak Conference that gets little to no respect...until they beat someone in the NCAA's. Maine can only hope to make Hockey East Playoffs...and ride the coat-tails of Swayman to some impossible finish.

Yes, my mistake I meant Woodman's in orono. Same owner as Orono brewing I believe.
Mason's is good too.
Geaghans has a pub next to casino behind the old Holiday inn.
Lol, I guess I don't frequent the local pubs enough.

I not sure by these posts if you coming to drink beer or watch hockey but if it's beer and you go to Mason's or Geaghan's in Brewer use the bridge don't walk across the ice. :D
Hope you enjoy your visit!

Re: Maine

The lasting part is the team, Red will walk out the door someday and then onto something else. Support of the team goes on regardless.
Heck someday we might be debating the virtues of red vs some future coach, like the TW debate never dies.

JHC, Mike, never even considered that possibility.

Can you imagine a scenario in which Maine fans would pine-away for Red? Good God. I want to live long enough to read THOSE posts!

(Or do I? :p)
