So after 5 years of fan frustration and fan depletion, the admin decides to simply thumb their noses at those that remain and make a mockery of the one thing we all wanted to see....a true national search. In my mind, that's the real travesty here.

Not to mention, that from now on, Corkum's success is always going to be compared to what Montgomery does at Denver. Even if Corkum rights the ship, and gets them back to the NCAA tourney regularly, which I have no doubt he can do, heaven forbid Montgomery win a national championship at Denver while Corkum's still looking for one. The comparisons, however unfair, will never cease.

He'll be in Montgomery's shadow just as much as if he were an assistant working under him at Maine.

How the hell did this get screwed up? It's like a dad giving a little girl a pony for Christmas, and having it die two days later.

I'm sure they never considered this could happen when they forgot to call Jimmy and show some interest when they should have. So basically other than having squirreled his way into a premo job, Corkum is now in a lose-lose situation where the only out is to win a NC, a highly unlikely happening. Nobody is going to be happy about this.

2 or 3 fans saying 75 times they screwed up is not the "Maine fan base". It us the opinion of 2 or 3 posters. I have spoken to several today including a couple ex NHL guys from Maine who 100% support the move. Said one made 5 million in NHL and other made zero. One over achieved other couldn't get it done. Said throw the puck in the corner and Corkum would come out with it. Corkum was one of the keys to Walsh putting Maine on the nap when the program sucked and will do it again

Same type of players Walsh did.
.if you think JM is going to get the top kids around here or from the USHL over BU, BC you are wrong. At DU he will be way better off. People will confuse the two and think he could have gotten those type of kids to come to Maine. Not true
The Kreiders, Atkinsons and the other top kids who go to those schools don't even know who JM is. Coaching high school kids in Dubuque is not Hockey East.

80% of the guys who Walsh made into winners were not sought after by DU, BU and BC types. No high end player who can go to those type schools is going to say, "I want to go to Maine because JM is ther".

Again, as was said, playing a lot of games in the NHL does not automatically translate into coaching success.

And if Montgomery had been 6'2 and 210, maybe he too would have had a long, effective NHL career.

Corkum is tainted by being on the sinking ship the last five years and will always be compared to Jim. The fans will call for his head after every loss and say "we should have got Jimmy"

If Denver offered more that is one thing but Maine didn't even bother talking to him.

The funny part of all this is, 2 years ago Y'all would have been begging for Corkum, what a difference a few years makes. We still don't even know whats really going on, Jimmy didn't get the job therefore Bob did?

Looks like Red Gendron is getting another ring tonight
