Agreed. The only thing Maine had over DU regarding JM's decision is that he went there, otherwise it was an absolute no-brainer for him to head west.

Agreed. The only thing Maine had over DU regarding JM's decision is that he went there, otherwise it was an absolute no-brainer for him to head west.
I am not a mainer? Lived there entire life, graduated there and still have dozens of investment properties in Orono. Was good friends with Walsh and still am with a ton of ex players. Was at Maine games over 30 years ago when you could show uP in 3rd period and pick any seat you wanted. Bruce Hegland and I carried the golf team together for 2 years....

Well, there's nothing we can do now. I think the end result is actually pretty good. We have someone who played 800+ games in the NHL, would give his life for Maine hockey, and has very high integrity. The grass is always greener for most people, but Maine hockey is 1000X better off than it was a week ago.

I'm not buying into the bullchit and it will be year number two I'm not buying tickets. I can find you plenty of guys with 800+ NHL games that don't know anything about coaching and based on the last 5 years at Maine he's one of them unless he's been playing possum.

I can tell you this guy knows his arse from his elbow about hockey.
Turn a blind eye to it if it makes you feel better.
But it won't change a thing.
Jimmy should be, and deserves to be, our captain. Our coach. I hope he didn't turn a blind eye to principals...
If you don't have the best of everything, then make the most of what you have.
Work hard, and things come to you.
If it turns out Jimmy lost site of these principals, well we are better of not having him.
But... if he never had the chance to employ these principals, then we lose for not getting him.
I can't believe with the promise Grant made when Shawn died... to not let it go away. I can't believe Jimmy would not want to fulfill the promise.
Why? C'mon everyone and make it right please.

While I'd like him as head coach at maine, he made his choice. Who knows if it would have been a different choice if Abbott hadn't spent the last month playing with himself.
But this entire process has just stunk from the get-go. First, the "top to bottom" review of the program, then "it's gonna take a month before any decision is made", then the decision is made before that month's up, and now this whole "No one has talked to me"-Monty; "I haven't talked to anyone"-Abbott; "Abbott told me he talked to Monty weeks ago"-Lee Goldberg.
This whole thing is just one gigantic sh$t-show. And it didn't have to be, if the administration had been open and forthcoming from day one.

I guess this whole ordeal shouldn't surprise anyone, the ADs office has been a mess since they kicked Stephen King to the curb. Blake James is the worst thing to ever happen to the athletic Dept at UMaine(at least since Walshys issues). The 3 year extension to Timmay screwed the program, now we're stuck. It appears DU was willing to jump at Jimmy and Maine is either taking their time trying to get it right or already knew what they were going to do. This last thing will play out in the next week or 2, either a committee is named or not

Maybe the school will still do a national search, maybe not. Even if Corkum is the best candidate that applies, will anyone buy it? If there was any question before, at least now we know for sure that we can't believe anything Steve Abbott says.
