Despite mulling offers to play junior hockey, goaltender Chris Howat, who just finished his senior year at Bangor High School, will attend the University of Maine in the fall to be the reserve goaltender for the men’s ice hockey team.
“There was an option of playing juniors, but I didn’t want to go very far (from home),” said Howat. “My studies are pretty important to me, as far as that aspect goes. It provides me (the ability) to continuing studying without a break.”
“This opportunity doesn’t come very often, plus there’s no guarantee in juniors.”

Thanks for posting this link. I missed it back in March. One of the most complimentary articles I have ever read. Reading this piece has me really "reved up" for the coming season.
Nice compliments despite the many factual errors. However the alumni magazine also has a very nice piece on the 92-93 team that seemingly was devoid of simple edits that would have fixed factual errors. Internet makes it so easy to check facts, and yet there are more errors than ever these days!![]()
Many factual errors? Please fill us in on the specifics?
