Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

The Cumberland County Civic Center will be closed for a major renovation in the next few months. The renovation schedule hasn't been released yet, but I wonder if it is closed this fall (early winter), would UMaine play at the Collisee in Lewiston?

I bet the Anthoines wouldn't mind. :)

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Thanks TripleE for the quick math. Just retired, now I will have the time to spend here like many others.

USA Hockey released the Final 40 this afternoon.

You are correct but I had something on it last week
Pecararo trying out for USNTDP; Boisvert opts out of Maine
By Nathan Fournier Published: 1st March 2012

2014 Maine recruit Liam Pecararo is getting the chance tryout for Team USA.

The 15-year-old forward of the Boston Advantages Under-18 team will head out to Ann Arbor, Mich., starting the week of March 19th for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program’s evaluation camp for the 2012-13 Under-17 team.

“Liam is a ’96 birth year that’s playing under-18 hockey,” said Joe Bracken, one of Boston Advantages’ under-18 team coaches. “He’s playing against (players) two-three years older than him. It has been a good year for him to have to battle against guys that are bigger and stronger.”

On UMaine playing at the Colisee...It would sell out no problem but lets face it the reason why the play in Portland is for the $$$. Colisee is 3,750 seats which is less then the Alfond. Only two options I see them playing at the Colisee would be against a CIS team or the NTDP.

St. Thomas Academy plays tomorrow at noon http://prep45.kstc45.com/

Maybe play a Hockey East Playoff game there...would sell out...as playing at Alfond this past weekend shows...under 4000 and 250-300 where Merrimack fans...just kidding...BUT NOT selling out the Alfond for Playoff Hockey...???? Sad turn of events up in Orono.

You can go back and check but I don't think the Alfond usually sells out for the quarterfinal round for some reason. Even back in the late 90s and early 2000s I believe. It actually looked pretty full from TV, which leads me to believe that the actual attendance numbers for regular season games reflect the tickets sold rather than the actual number of people in the building, since you have to buy tickets to the playoff series and not all regular season ticket holder attend every home game.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

In addition to the EJHL Finals which will be held at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Mass, the Beantown Classic will be also taking place there. Ryan Cloonan, Ryan Badger, and Nick Roberto will be taking part. I am probably going to make the trip down on Thursday to check out the event/game 2 of the EJHL Finals.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I didn't' end up going to the Beantown, but the Monarchs swept the Hitmen to with the EJHL Championship, their third in a row.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Had a chance to see both Badger and Roberto in the draft division. There was a lot to like about both players. Speed, on ice
awareness and skill is all above average. Not the biggest guys but that didn't slow them down in the corners or dirty areas in
front of the net. I was in and out watching other games but I'm sure both had points in the game.

Found Badger on line, he played in two different leagues:

Overall 55 GP with 42 - 60 - 102 points, finished 2nd in scoring in the Tier I Elite league. I heard from a couple of scouts he’s
headed to the USHL next season.

I believe Roberto has another year in Prep?

Roberto told me another year of prep, then a year of juniors after that
