Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Why are you guys arguing with Hokydad, he is right, Tim blew it with Arnold, you could see it last year when Lowell played in Orono early in the season. The kid can run a PP. Are any of you surprised Tim blew it with a recruit? I'm not

Long live Craig Stadler ......

Seeing that he came in last year, when he was always supposed to, cant agree with you

One is a sophmore, other a junior. DA came in the same year he was going to at maine. He walked from Maine because they wanted him to do one more year.... Which means he would be a freshman now at maine, not a sophmore at Lowell.

I'm pretty sure Arnold did one more year in Jrs regardless of switching to Lowell. He would have been a Sophmore at Maine this year.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I agree, Maine is doing well. Lost in qtrs 6-2 last year to Merrimack and is in 4th/5th place this year after losing to PC this weekend.

When they lose again in qtrs and fail to make NCAA's again this year, I am sure the battle cry will be the same...

Mangene is a junior, zero to do with it

Your precious D. Arnold and his River Hawks are going to finish behind Maine. Have fun playing Merrimack in the Qs!..........LOL.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

All of this discussion about Arnold is meaningless and has no basis in fact. The discussion revolves around speculation and only the Maine coaching staff and Arnold know the real reasons why he is not in Orono. Could have been academics, readiness, or any number of issues. I suppose one could say it's fun talking about, but not very meaningful or pertinent at this time. Although, I suppose that's what this forum is all about.;)

He's a sophomore at Lowell this year

He was a Maine recruit for years, he didn't come, went to Lowell and is helping Lowell win, these are all facts. Whether he could have helped Maine remains to be seen, depends on how he fit in and apparently Tim didn't think he would fit in at the time. So be it. Without speculation this board would be box scores

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

If it is true that Merchant is leaning towards Maine, could that be the spot that Boisvert was and now being taken by Merchant..? With your know how, what became of Boisvert..? What was the reason for his name being taken off the "H" List..? Thanks, alot of Questions, but like to know why a Recruit comes to Maine or why he leaves after committing.

I am not quite sure but its possible Merchant is replacing Boisvert. I can try to find out about the Boisvert situation. I think its safe to assume its not because hes bolting to major juniors since hes a 92 and he would be an overager next season.

Maine lands another commitment
By Nathan Fournier Published: 14th February 2012

The University of Maine men’s hockey team continues to add defense in next year’s recruiting class as they received a verbal commitment from Valley Junior Warriors’ defenseman Conor Riley

“He has learned the position of defense quite a bit this year,” said Valley Jr. Warriors’ head coach Andy Heinze. “His biggest asset is he doesn’t lose a whole lot of one-on-one battles for pucks in the corners, in front of the net, or anywhere.”

I talked to Will Merchant and Sam Wolfe today so I will have a story up either tomorrow or Thursday.

As far as Boisvert I was told by someone who covers the CCHL hes still committed and if you look on College Hockey Inc site they still have him listed. http://www.collegecommitments.com/CommitList.aspx?x7cq9=CCHL

Their stats are outdated and will continue to for a second person for confirmation.

Also Ryan Lomberg was mentioned in this weeks Hockey News Hot List

Mr. Hockey finalist coming to Maine
By Nathan Fournier Published: 16th February 2012

The Maine Black Bears are tapping into the talent of the hockey rich State of Minnesota, who constantly provides top-notch prospects year-in and year-out.

The Black Bears received two commitments from Eagan High School teammates Will Merchant and Sam Wolfe.

Merchant, a 6’1 180 pound forward, is a Mr. Hockey finalist, an award given to the best senior high school hockey player in Minnesota, and was ranked the 155th North American skater for the upcoming 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He has 22 goals, 20 assists for 42 points in 23 games with the Wildcats.

“I liked the atmosphere of the school and the rink,” Merchant said. “I liked how the campus was laid out and liked how (Maine) has a better business school than Michigan Tech.”

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

This guy sounds big time to me. I hope he shares the Hobey with one of his teammates from Boston Advantage just one of his four years at Maine. Three Hobeys are enough for one kid.

HEY..!!!! Tech is fairly decent this year. :p

Mike Lundin was a Mr. Hockey guy, and he turned out pretty well. (I'd absolutely take six of him right now.)

I hope all Maine recruits and players perform well, but when i see that we're now battling Michigan Tech for players, its upsetting.

You have to look at the player credentials, and Merchant was one of the best 94s available this late in the game. Not every kid in Minnesota is recruited by Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, etc.
