Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

The St. Thomas Academy Cadets won the Minnesota State Championship in 2011.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Care to expand on this? I checked out the St. Thomas site and found nothing of interest.

They don't have a lot if info......he's a four year varisty player on a very, very good HS hockey team. Good skater, sees the ice very well and has always had poise with the puck. Not very physical but very smooth. Could develop into a solid PP QB type. Will need to add some muscle and footspeed, like most freshman. Curious if they will bring him in straight from HS of plan to have him play a year of juniors?

EDIT: Few clips in here. #5 BTW, #9 is Zach Schroeder now at RPI

Thanks for the info. Heisenberg has him as 2013.

Do you know anything about Bill Norman? A Swede who played for Rochester Mayo and now sits in the stands at the Alfond. He's been described close to your description of Schurhamer.

I think this kid (Schurhamer) should add a second m to his name. Would immediately rank as one of the best hockey names ever.

'13 makes sense. I would guess a full year of juniors would be good, I would be surprised if he left STA after the hockey season to play juniors.
Sorry, I don't know anything about Norman.
And it would! :)

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Until there's the "BOLD" move and they fire TW...then top notch recruiting and selling UM Hockey is GONE...

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Here's more info on Eric Shurhamer. Totals for 2010-2011 as a Jr. It's expected he will return to St. Thomas Academy for his senior year. Played in 31 games, scored 9 goals, 23 assists, 32 points and a +/- 13.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I don't have any confidence in any recruit that commits right now with TIMMAY still at the helm.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Devin Shore had two goals last night in Canada East's 4-2 Victory over USA in the semifinals of the WJAC

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I am still tracking down Schurhamer...I am talking to his coach tomorrow. I am also tracking down to see who have signed their letter of intents this week. It sounds like the plan is for Matt Morris to come in for next year.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Dont expect a release from the team this week on who signed their NLOI during the early signing period. Team likes to send out one press release with all the NLOI...I expect the announcement in April

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Looks like Dylan Gareau has been traded to the USHL according to the EJHL transaction page...He had 7 goals and 9 assists with the New Jersey Hitmen in 16 games. If you look at the USHL transactions page they don't have him listed but Cedar Rapids traded a player to the Hitmen...Could be the possible destination.

I got confirmation from the Hitmen's coach this week that he's heading to Maine in 2012 after visiting the campus again last weekend.

Who do you think will come next year? I'd like to see Gareau, Morgan, Shore, Lomberg, and Swanny. Is there any chance of Cam Brown deferring a year and that happening?

Alot can change "IF" there is a Coaching change come late March early April...one question can these recruits de-committ a NLOI if there's a coaching change after the season..? Sounds like it happen over @ Northeastern this summer. Do they sit a year out or can they move to another College Hockey program and play that upcoming season..?

There is no explicit language in the NLI to automatically give a release if there is a coaching change, but most schools have enough class to release the kids if they no longer want to attend. That is certainly not a guarantee, however, and the kid could be stuck if the school wants to hold them to it (or have to sit out a year like you described).

On a side note, if any of my kids were ever going D-I, I would absolutely NOT let them sign an NLI. It is the most one-sided contract anyone will ever sign, the possibility for the kids to get screwed over is infinitely higher than any benefit. I was surprised the "Financial Aid Agreement" that a few basketball players signed a few years ago didn't catch on.

From what I gather its Gareau, Lomberg, Matt Morris, Cam Brown and Swann Boisvert are for 2012. Shore is still unsure but the year he's having he doesn't stay in the OJHL next season, I would think its the USHL or Maine for him. Depending if he's drafted in the NHL he could go to the OHL.
