Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I am still tracking down Schurhamer...I am talking to his coach tomorrow. I am also tracking down to see who have signed their letter of intents this week. It sounds like the plan is for Matt Morris to come in for next year.
Greg or Tom Vanelli? Tom was a hell of a college player for MN during their run in the mid-70s.

Schurhamer’s gut takes him to Maine
By Nathan Fournier Published: 21st November 2011
Eric Schurhamer just had that feeling.

The 17-year-old Minnesota native verbally committed to the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team for the fall of 2013 last Friday.

“It’s a great school, a great community and the coaches were great,” said Schurhamer. “I had that gut feeling when I was there. It was the right size school, not to big, not to small. I had the feeling I could see myself walking around the campus.”

So Maine beat out Mankato, Bemidji, Army and Yale for this kid..?

Not exactly the Clash of the Titans.

Black Bears future roster taking shape
By Nathan Fournier Published: 23rd November 2011

The freshmen class for 2012 is starting to take shape for the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team.

Ryan Lomberg, last week, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Maine next season.

“It feels awesome to finally be official,” said Ryan Lomberg on signing his National Letter of Intent. “I pretty much had my mind made after I visited Maine for the first time. I fell in love with the school and the atmosphere.”

I think a lot of us appreciate you digging up these interesting links for us. (I know that I certainly do; I wouldn't even know where to start looking for them.)

Thanks!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Here's an update on Swann Boisvert who is coming to Maine next year. He is currently playing for the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the CCHL. He is there leading player with 8 goals,18 assists and 26 points in 25 games. He just turned 19 and appears to have bulked up a bit. He is listed at 6-1 185 lbs.

According to Devin Shore's twitter account, Ben Hutton of the Kemptville 73s has committed to Maine

A big congratulations to future teammate @bhutt10. Love this guy, and were gonna tear it up. #maine #blackbears

What's it matter, TIMMAY won't let him hit anybody anyway.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Does UMAine have any chance of recruiting NHL drafted players anymore........? How many drafted players does Merrimack have.......maybe a recipe for success ??

It certainly looks like Lomberg will be drafted. Eligible in 2013 since he's a late-born '94.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Depends if he gets drafted...............

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't NHL teams better off if kids they draft go the college route? They have their rights an extra year, right?

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

The Kemptville 73's are just over half way through their season. Defenseman Ben Hutton is doing quite well, he leads the team in assists with 17 and is second in points with 24.

Does it matter how good these kids are unless the rug is pulled out from under Tim. He proved last year he can't win with talent on the ice.

And goaltending schmoaltending....because if you honestly don't think Dan Sullivan has the innate capabilities to develop into a legitimate NCAA goaltender given the right circumstances then you just aren't paying attention. Occasional confidence shakes? Sure. But confidence reflects leadership.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Agreed.

He simply doesn't have the tools, coaching or not.
