Well, I couldn't find live updates on this site but did find it from the link mentioned at the bottom of the last page. Just as I was fearing to, didn't want to see it..lol.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

TIMMAY has already destroyed the program......why not the HE Pairwise as well?.......

Just trying to keep pace with the rest of hockey east. One thing that gave me a lot of hope going into this year was I didn't think that the rest of hockey east would be that good and so far I think i've been proven correct.

Our new rallying cry?

Maine Hockey: Not really that much worse than every other team in the conference.

Misery loves company.

So, how are you celebrating that Maine win?:D This team has some work to do.

:p I guess I'm not. Michigan State is a better team, quicker, faster, stronger, better all the way around. Maine looks ok at times, other times like crap, take the second period, Maine was awful for the first 15 minutes, then got it together for the last 5. I like the play of Dee on face offs, Dek played like he did when he was freshman. I dislike Carriere as a Dman, he's better as a forward. Darling was ok, the first 2 goals he had no chance.

Saw a guy walking around the arena with Maine white jersey on, personalized with "Whitehead must go". Tried to get a pic to post but I wasn't quick enough:D

The one thing that has bugged me for 3 or 4 years, Maine player and opposing player get to the puck at the same time, 95 times out of a hundred, the puck goes in the direction the opposing player wants, is that skill, strength, heart or what? Its frustrating as hell to watch, night after night.

I cann see Maine going 0 for 6 to open the season:mad:

You summed it up pretty well. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure Maine lost the faceoff battle. They were terrible last year as well. Shorthanded goal was a killer (2nd one this year). Not being able to bring the puck up the ice on the power play was also very frustrating to watch. Your first sentence says it all.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

4,790 at Alfond tonight for the 1st game of the season vs. Michigan State on Homecoming Weekend??? Wow.......how times have changed. :(

I see Maine going 0-13 to open the season with their first real shot at winning vs. St. Lawrence in Portland and then maybe a split with Providence at home the following weekend.

I think that they will be lucky to draw 3,500 by mid-season if the losses keep mounting.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

You saw it here first, Maine wins tonight

women's club lax?

so last season I put together Maine's record vs top 10 teams, against 11-20 etc.

Maine was something like 11-3-2 against teams ranked number 35-55, or something like that.
Last season Union, Maine and MSU all finished worse than 35th or so..
and that means that Maine is 0-3 against the bottom 20.

also, remember when SOMEONE coughed up puck after puck on D and was still played?

this season someone has coughed up 2 shorties and I am guessing he was not miss a game all season... nor miss a shift

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

ABB posted it on another thread, and I agree, without the hockey team generating income (and it wont at 3500/game), there is no reason to keep paying for it and division one athletics. Drop it to D-III.

They can't drop it to D-3 but they can eliminate the program.

Shawn must be rolling in his grave with talk like this.......:(

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

One note on the game...the HIT[ya right]on Nyquist was a BIG-TIME Cheap shot that the MSU player should have been given a 5 min. Major/DQ....and a few UMaine team-mates should have followed that punk right into the side-boards after that BS hit.....no need of it at all...and right in front of the referee...BS totally...dangerous & visious play.

They can drop it to D-3 if they drop EVERYTHING to D-3. What sport does Maine sponsor right now that should be D-I?

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Well another loss for lil timmay...is anybody surprised. I hate to see the team lose, but hopefully the more losses the quicker they have to get rid of timmay!! It's a bad catch 22 but that is probably the only way he gets fired versus riding out the contract.
Fire tim now.....

I say:drop Tim to D-3.(Or wherever,as long as he's gone...)He will never revive this program. The empirical evidence is irrefutable.

I didn't sign up for the lynch-mob until sometime this past season.Guess I was an "apologist".Tim did OK for a while there, helping to keep the program nationally-respected,but it's very clear that his coaching philosophy is taking Maine nowhere fast right about now.(It looks like women's hockey,FCS.)

The Bears had next to no talent in '07-'08,got more talented in '08-'09,and this year's team (thanks largely to Corkum's recruits)has a very decent core of players.I think this team can win,if they're allowed to play hockey... So,time's-a-wastin'.

Corkum should be given the job immediately,if only on an interim basis. He has attracted some good players to Orono, despite the toxic atmosphere around the program of late.He deserves major credit for that.If he falls on his face,at least Maine will have some time to conduct a national search before the season ends.(Or is the season already over, considering the lame start?)

Bob is a Black Bear, just as we are,and I have no doubt that he'll throw the puck out and the guys will chase it with abandon.Corkum knows what Maine hockey means to people. We need a guy like that at the helm right now.

Thank you,Tim,and fare well.
